There is nothing fancy about this bar, just gives you the best feeling of the old days. The only place I've been where you just order a beer, no name & cash only. The personality of the staff gives it the nostalgic feeling..loved watching the bartender harrass the patrons. Classic NY! Go in for a cold beer & people watching!

I always visit here when in NYC. Sometimes its busy and noisy and crowded, which gives a great atmosphere. Then sometimes its quiet and peaceful and cozy which is also cool.
It really is a traditional old school pub with a typical NY bar tender.
They serve ale, light or dark, no other alcohol. They also do a few sandwiches.
If thats what you like you'll love it, if not don't bother with it.

This bar is a must stop for a drink when in New York. Old, history ridden, and cheap. You have two choices-light of dark beer. They server will bring a few mugs over when you order (they are 8-10oz each). Food fair is simple but lets face it, you aren't there for the food.

Came here with friends and family on a Saturday night. Wow, this place is packed and I mean PACKED! A great experience though shoving a pushing through the crowds for good cheap beer. Where else can you experience this! You just have to come in the right frame of mind. FYI- We've also been here midweek in the middle of the day a had a nice relaxed drink and the cheese plate with onions (surprisingly great). The place is pretty empty during the day, but the beer is just as good!

We went to this iconic pub with our boys (4 and 6) on a Sunday afternoon, greeted by a sanding-room only eclectic mix of students, bohemes, old Irish gents. Service was stellar and space was made to squeeze us into a table, rubbing shoulders with others. They have two beers, a light and dark, which is always brought two at a time and is passable. Snacks are provided: a pack of saltine crackers, sliced cheese, raw onions and hot mustard. The unimpressive beer and food was more than made up by the energy, authentic pub feel, excellent service. It's like a busy pub from mid-20th century Ireland was teleported to Manhattan! Great place.
