We tried this place because of a Groupon, but it turned out to be really outstanding food, particularly the Involtini di Pollo, which might have been the single best Italian dish I've had. Unfortunately, since it was our first meal in NYC, it kind of set us up for disappointment for the rest of the trip.

Very solid food in a delightfully energetic atmosphere. They nicely accommodated special request for seating and a birthday candle in our dessert.

What a treat! My husband and I loved it!
Food was delicious. We had the pizza italiana, Fiocchi with truffle oil, sea bass and Osso Bucco .
The service was attentive and quick.
No complaints.
Best place in NYC to eat.

No question that the food was tasty.
But the lobster tail was very small.
The prices were quite high.
And they should be embarrassed to serve a tiramisu that one needed a magnifying glass to find.

When we arrived, we were given quite a hassle about not having reservations.
At the time, the place was practically empty. Nor did it become full during the time we were there.
We told them how we had called several times during the afternoon and that there was no answer.
They said that they didn't open until 4PM. But the website said they opened at 12.
So, they insisted on arguing about that.

The experience was also rather poor due to the other patrons.
I can't say that there is anything about the restaurant that draws a bad crowd.
But it was just weird how everyone from a 15 year old girl to a man in his 60s all acted like they've never been out in public before -- screaming and carrying on to the point where 2/3 of the people should have been asked to leave.

Ceci's is a small Italian restaurant that looks like a neighborhood bar as you walk in but has maybe 15 tables in back. I had a fried calamari appetizer with a chipotle glaze that was incredibly light. It was nearly a tempura batter and the glaze was nice. Main dish was linguine con vongale which had very fresh clams and a nice white sauce. The bread was better then most, tasted if it was either wood or coal fired oven that it was baked in. With a glass of chianti the meal came to $60 with tip, not cheap but New York reasonable.
