Due to a bike event in NYC we couldn't get rooms at our usual favorite. Picked this one on location and price. Nothing glamorous, a little worn in spots, this was nevertheless clean and very friendly. Beds were very comfortable, bathroom was re-done in marble and shower was great. Layout was good for a NYC hotel. It is a European hotel and similar to a hotel I stayed in in Paris. Not as stylish as Americans are used to. Location was fabulous. Only complaint is we stayed three days and ran out of shampoo and conditioner. Soap was down to a sliver .

Dylan Hotel is part of the Eurostars chain which caters to Europeans. From that perspective, as someone who has traveled in Europe a lot, this is a fine tourist-class hotel. The bathroom in my room was nicely redone and truly comfortable. The rest of room, not so much. Blackout curtains were pulled when I arrived. I realized there was no option other than blackout curtains available and to open the curtains completely exposed me to the office building next door. Having the option of a sheer curtain would be nice. (I was on fifth floor). CNN and several other TV stations did not work on the house TV. No excuse for that at all. Housekeeping did not do a thorough job in replenishing my room during the stay. That was disappointing. Bed was firm and fine. WiFi was spotty and could be slow. There was coffee and tea in the room, however, not replenished completely after having one cup of coffee. 'Average' is the ideal rating for this hotel. The Hotwire price I got for the room was above average, however, so I was not terribly impressed with the value for the money spent. Buyer beware. You can do much better nowadays in New York City.

Room Tip: High as possible.

What gret little gem! Walking distance to everything in Mid-town. Around the corner from Grand Central.

GREAT rates, excellent staff, BIG room for NYC, cool decor and very interesting history.

You will not be disappointed!

Great location. Comfortable beds. Good shower. Period. Wireless connection extremely iffy. Hidden thermostat. Bathroom so small there's no room to change your mind. Cleanliness very mediocre. Staff not particularly sensitive. Received a knock on door from hotel staff when I had displayed the Do Not Disturb sign! Room very dingy and window extremely dirty. I would not stay there again. Benjamin steakhouse provided room service which was very expensive.

Hotel is in a great location, in midtown, close to grand central. Walking distance to my meetings. But, I would never stay here again. Arrived on a monday at 4pm, staff uninterested, no help with luggage, slow check in, eventually given room. It smelt mouldy so I asked to be moved, which they did with good grace. Second room ok.whole hotel is tired and needs updating. I have never experienced so much static, nylon carpets... Had room overlooking front of hotel, dont be at the back, cooking smells abound. Bathroom large but cold, no heating, and poor selection of products. towels small and thin. Heating system poor. Either freezing cold or boiling hot. All colleagues had same issues in their room. Sorry, but i would not stay here again.

Room Tip: If you choose to stay here, ask for a room at the front.

What we most enjoyed of this hotel was its amazing location. Just around the corner we had Grand Central Station, Bryant, Park, the Public Library, etc. The room was Ok, big, with a king size bed. We booked an standard room but we had an upgrade offered at soon as we arrived. The room was a little dark, but very clean, with good size and a very large and comfortable bathroom. The restaurant downstairs called Benjamin Steakhouse was good and crowded every night. The staff was excellent. But again, the best thing about staying here is that is great located.
