Excellent location But - noise levels are not for everybody. If you're sensible to this, this might not be the best place for you

The hotel is very conveniently located, both for business and leisure. You're right beside Times Square, with the Central park and 5th / Madion avenue shopping just a couple of minutes away. The area is liveley during day and night and you will find a large selection of restaurants, from the rather good value deli to something more upmarket. The subway to Wall Street (if you take an express train) is pretty fast.

The hotel is relatively modern and clean. Bathrooms had a decent size - keep in mind this is New York. Staff were friendly and helpfull and even the hotel breakfast was good @ c. USD 50 for two people.

The big drawback is the aircondition, this is a fixed installed system which is quite loud if turned on. Keep in mind you need this both for cooling and for heating, so if you're a bit sensible to it you do have a problem. And of course you have some street noise if the room is out to the street, but then you're living close to Times Square here.
The aircondition also in some rooms at times transports a trace of food preparation, which is probably coming from the restaurant.

Stayed here early February because we wanted to checkout Superbowl Boulevard.

With my new Kimpton obbession, of course we had to chose one of the 4 Kimpton properties in the city because we were traveling with our dog and we love their offerings for pets/owners. The Muse seemed to have the best location (for what we were doing) & reviews.

Liked:
1. Got a "gift bag" for the dog with treats, a travel water bowl and a toy.
2. Small rooms but liked the room decor. We had no view but the bed was comfortable, the linens were nice, the dressers, night tables, mirrors, etc. were all nice. The closet was small and weird to access - we were only there a night so we didn't use the closet though. The bathroom set-up was way better than Palomar Philadelphia, allowed us to lock the dog in there and he had room under the sink to lay, eat, etc but it was still small.
3. The evening desk people were quite nice - asked for dinner recommendations and they were accommodating with our dog who was barking loudly while we were out.

Didn't like:
1. Check-in was terrible. We arrived right around 2pm (check-in was at 3pm). We were told by one of the blondes working that "a room wasn't ready yet but should be in less than 10 minutes" and that we could sit in the lobby and wait. We were hungry and the dog needed to be walked but we were assured it wouldn't be long. After waiting 10 minutes, I asked them to check our room status. Again, I was told "only a few more minutes". This went on until about 2:30 (checking in 2 more times and maybe 30 minutes of waiting?). If we had known we'd be waiting for 30 minutes, we would have left of our bags as soon as we arrived. Once we decided to have the bellhop hold our bags, it took another 10 minutes for him to even come get our bags. There was no one at the bell station out front and when we did see a bellhop, he took the bags of 2 girls who had just come down to check out before he took ours. Seriously? Once he took our small rolling suitcase, he slammed it into the wall as he was rounding the corner. Again, seriously? My husband and I were quite mad at this point. We looked to the girls working behind the desk and all we got was a shrug. No "I'm sorry". Thank god there was nothing breakable in our bags? Still, no one should never treat someone's belongings like that.
2. When there is a dog in the room, don't slip papers like check-out info or breakfast menus under the door. The dog rips them to shreds.
3. Worst wine hour I've seen at a Kimpton - girl serving was tucked away in the lobby and it seemed very un-inviting - also not many people around like it wasn't promoted? Especially because there were quite a few people in the bar? We went to the bar thinking it was the wine hour but rudely got turned away because it was not. Sorry guy.
4. Walls were quite thin/could hear through them easily.

My advice: Skip this one, the Palomars in Philly and DC are better price and stay wise! Also, I've stayed in multiple Times Square hotels and this one didn't wow me (I'd recommend the W for the area). We paid about $320 for the night and that was with a special rate, on a WEDNESDAY night! The Muse, experience-wise was on-par with the Crowne Plaza and for over $100 less per night, stay at the Crowne.

Room Tip: Ask for a higher floor? We were on the 4th and had zero view.

I love Kimpton Hotels. They are consistently great. This hotel is wonderful and the location is perfect for Broadway. You can walk to and from all the theaters and restaurants. Front desk is great and the coffee and wine offerings are typical Kimpton. I also like the size of the hotel. Not too big. The bar/restaurant is very convenient as well.

Room Tip: The floors higher than 15 are much smaller and quieter. The suites are nice with a comfortable sitti...

Stayed at this hotel for a long weekend and loved it. Room was huge by NYC standards, and everything was very clean and updated. Loved the coffee in the morning, hot cocoa in the afternoon, and wine/spiked hot cider in the evening! Staff was great when I had to extend a day due to weather delays getting home. Location is convenient to pretty much everything in the city...highly recommend it!

We stayed at the Muse during Super Bowl weekend and we clearly were in the center of things. A great location, but close to all the action. I was surprised how quiet it was. The rooms were beautifully decorated. Not huge rooms but big enough to be very comfortable. The staff is great..always smiling and ready to help. We totally enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend The Muse to anyone wanting a boutique hotel experience in New York city.

Stayed here for two nights with a group of friends: Fabulous hotel, modern without being to pretentious. The lobby makes a great first impression and our room was excellent! The check in staff were very accommodating as we arrived early and only 2 of our 3 rooms were available, we left our bags and went to lunch nearby, when we came back they had give our friends in the 3rd room a voucher for $40 to spend in the hotel even though it was our fault we got there early :) The hotel is very central just steps from Times Square so you can't complain if there is noise, it is a busy/noisy city after all.
The hotel bar was sophisticated and dark and calming, just what we needed after being out in the Big Apple all day. If you stay you MUST visit the bathrooms just behind the reception desk they are all individually designed/decorated and well worth a visit! I would definitely recommend this hotel but maybe not with young children its a bit to sophisticated for a family trip! We were 2 adults in 3 rooms celebrating 40th & 50th birthdays the rates were very reasonable

Room Tip: We booked through Expedia and got a great rate. You can hear the NYC traffic all over but even our...
