Prime location and a great hotel for trendy people
we knew the Dream from Bangkok years ago, and expected it would be good.
The standard room with 2 X queen size beds, where fine for myself and my colleague and the room where clean and spacious, with a nice view of upper Manhattan. The clubs and bars are of very high international standard. The steakhouse is really good with fantastic meat and wine
The breakfast was good but expensive.
I would not bring my children to the dream, as it attracts many people for the night clubs.
We had several business meetings, dinners and some light clubbing at the hotel during our stay and everyone liked it.

Room Tip: I would go for the rooms in the middle from 5th-8th floor. As the club in the basement and the PHD c...

Good location (MPD, shopping, etc), good service (unlike most hotels, the staff seems to be encouraged to show their personalities without compromising on service standards), good in house venues (phd is almost constantly jam packed) and comfortably stylish rooms.

It's an adult playroom... Ideal spot for couples, solo travellers and groups, as long as they are aware of the fact that once they walk through the doors it is fun and festive in here... And naturally, that comes with the elevated noise level...

The Dream Hotel has the nicest doormen in SoHo: they're so happy to welcome you to the property and usher you through the protective winter doors. The Dream's lobby is naturally chic and dark with a bar on the right, along with a couple of others elsewhere in the building. They attract the trendy crowd and wanna-bes from Manhattan and the outer boroughs. (Dream staff makes sure they stay where they belong -- they aren't disturbing overnight guests). Our room was on a lower floor, facing 16th Street but noise wasn't an issue. Our room was on the small side but freshly decorated with soothing colors and down covers and pillows. The cleanliness of the room more than made up for its modest size. The bathroom had some crazy design features that worked but were amusing: a chain link shower curtain, banked tiling in the bottom of the shower to get the water to drain to the center, frosted glass bathroom walls that allow your "roommate" to see that someone's in there -- though 'what' they were doing, you couldn't be sure of) and the sink had a bi-level drainage design that was unique but not always effective at keeping you dry. The Dream serves a large number of Google employees spending time at nearby Manhattan HQ so expect to see countless numbers of them checking in, out and relaxing at the bar.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the building to the east, not one looking at 16th

Loved this hotel- we picked the meat packing district and we picked this modern new hotel on purpose and were not at all disappointed. From being greeted at the main door, the room being ready, the trendy decor and the swimming pool (with a glass bottom) over the bar/ reception area we were very happy indeed. We loved the location, Chelsea Market 3 mins walk, Greenwich a stones throw away. We ate at Pastic, Buddakan and Bills Burgers all withing 5 mins of the hotel. We had cocktails int he roof terrace- with great views and welcomign service. Wehad a lovely room, and despite a great bar and roof terrace no noise at all (room 325) and we were so happy with it. Overlooking the swimming pool below, and big flat screen HD TV on the wall. We did not eat in the hotel because we were out and about but there is a steak restaurant and Japenese restaurant in the basement. The staff were all gorgeous, well dressed and they were all very happy to help. I will definitely be going back! Metro was one black over on 14th street and we enjoyed how easily we could get everywhere.

Room Tip: we were in the tower which shares the lift with the PHD roof top bar. We had a very quiet room and s...

This is a friendly and well managed hotel aimed at a young and trendy clientele but attractive for expetienced travelers.

The $330 room was clean and well maintained. Too often hot NYC hotels ignore basic maintenance and cleaning. This is an exception.

The pool, even in winter, is warm and relaxing. The rooftop lounge is overrun by young rather stupid and vacupys fashionable types but has s good ambience nonetheless.

The hotel is very modern, and well appointed, great location, great service from the staff. The restaurant and bar were well worth visiting and enjoyable. This seems to be the chic late night hangout for many people. The hotel rooms were average size and very comfortable. The only problem is the street noise, and the noise of the nightclub which thumps through the building until it closes. After it closes you are then subjected to noisy clubbers pouring into the street yelling and trying to organise themselves to leave, which leads to car horns etc. if you are a heavy sleeper, then your fine, and you can enjoy a good hotel in a great location. Hotel staff advise that the windows on the street front are double glazed - if this was so then why can you hear every conversation of people coming and going from the hotel. Would definitely stay here again but would request a room inside the building not street facing.

Dream Downtown is a well situated, expertly designed hotel, but it is not a hotel intended for children. It has a young, chic party crowd. Noise levels are very high. Some rooms come with earplugs.

The hotel is in close proximity to Greenwich Village, the High Line, Hudson River waterfront, Meatpacking District, night life, great area restaurants and some of the best public transportation options for the city. You can get from the hotel to any part of Manhattan in less than 30 minutes. Taxicabs are plentiful in the area.

The pool is heated and opens year round. It has a glass bottom view of the lobby. The lobby is spacious and comfortable, and its open concept allows you to see all the action in the bar and the pool at the same time. The lobby restaurant has an excellent menu. It’s a great place to have a breakfast meeting or an afternoon celebration. At night, it’s a very noisy hot spot that will work for some. It gets very crowded and there’s lots of traffic to and from the rooftop lounge, which is quite popular. It has a lively, fun, party atmosphere. It’s a bit more sedate by day.

The staff is very helpful and accommodating, professional and friendly. The rooms are cozy and not very spacious. Ours had a view of the Empire State Building. Some have balconies and some lead onto the pool deck. But beware. Those only work if you don’t plan to sleep at night. The beds are comfortable. The bathrooms are contemporary, but the sinks are the least practical items in the rooms, followed by the lack of adequate storage space. The minimalist furniture arrangements seem to work.

Everything is computerized and centrally controlled, so the lights shut off after you leave the room. But it also means that when one thing fails, everything has to be rebooted to be corrected. Not the most convenient aspect of your stay when you get in late at night or if you are not tech-savvy.

Overall, the stay was excellent. It’s a wonderful place to relax and lounge indoors or out. You can spend an entire day without leaving the hotel and not be bored. A rare find in the middle of the city.

Room Tip: If you seek peace and quiet, request a higher floor overlooking the pool. Be very specific that you...
