This was my first stay at Hyatt 48 Lex. Check-in could not have been more pleasant, and my 10th floor room had a fine view of Lexington Avenue. The floor to ceiling windows at the foot of the bed were an unusual design feature, and the room was good-sized and had a comfortable sitting area and a mini-kitchen . The Lexicom lounge's coffee, cocktail hour and breakfast service were very good and the health club small but well-equipped. A fine stay in an excellent location.

There was a mixup with our reservation, it wasn't in the system. We were invited to the Lexicon Lounge while Tara sorted it out. But because it was peak (Tribeca Film Festival etc) I think there was no more room, so we were given the 'Handicapped persons' room (RM 902). No upgrade to the studio king as promised. The staff are excellent. BUT the handicapped bathroom has no walls separating the shower and the WC, so be warned....you will soak the entire bathroom. ask for TONS of bath mats coz the floor will be slippery. The bed is very comfy, but coz there were 2 of us,the super single (or Queen bed) was slightly squeezy. But we had a roof over our heads and a place top rest our weary bones after Tribeca. Would I recommend Hyatt48Lex? probably as long as you don't get 902. Would I return? LOL depends if I get to experience a room with e bath/shower with walls so I don't have to mop up every time I shower.

Room Tip: Anything but 902 (unless you need disabled facilities then this room would be perfect)

My wife and I stayed one night at the Hyatt 48. We had a great experience. We booked a queen using our Gold Passport points and were upgraded to a King. The room was nice and upscale, with a mini kitchen. All of the fittings were spotlessly clean and modern thanks to the fact that the hotel is still in it's infancy. The staff were very polite. There's a lounge on the 2nd floor where you can grab a drink or read a magazine though the staff we encountered there weren't as attentive as elsewhere and we never saw the complimentary snacks we were told about. All in all it was a great stay, we would definitely stay again.

Postives:
Great location
Friendly staff
Comfortable rooms
Great iPod docking station (very high end)
Large bathrooms
Mini kitchens

Negatives:
Can be pricey
2nd floor lounge was nice, but the offerings could have been better

Just spent three nights at 48Lex and loved the concept of this hotel. The staff was highly professional and well educated in the art of pleasing a customer. The staff is the difference in making this just another new hotel in Midtown. In the past I have stayed at the Grand Hyatt which is too big and the staff very impersonal.

If you want the grand lobby over superior customer service, you may find other hotels to your liking but not I. Loved my stay!!!

Room Tip: Ask for a corner room which we could not since we were Gold Passport comped.

We had a great stay last weekend at this hotel! Although the check in area is 'minimalistic' the people were very warm and accommodating. Each member of the staff that we encountered was both professional and cordial and made us feel very much 'at home.'

The hotel is new, so unlike many others in the city, its decor is quite current. Our room was surrounded by floor to ceiling windows which gave it a very open feel and made it seem larger than it was. The bed was very comfortable with nice linens and there were plenty of plugs for charging phones & computers, as well as two HD TV's in the room. The bathroom was large by New York standards and well appointed, especially the shower, with it's nice shower head.

We really enjoyed the lounge on the second floor where we could get coffee and cappuccino anytime, and nice little snacks morning and evening. The staff was friendly and always helpful.

The location was great....we walked almost everywhere, but the subway was close and there was almost always a taxi readily available. Lots of good restaurants closeby.

I have mostly stayed in larger hotels in the city recently which have seemed cold and impersonal. This one was much more comfortable and personal. Definitely would stay here again! Very nice weekend experience!

My stay at Hyatt 48 Lex was fantastic. The room was lovely with a wall of floor to ceiling windows. The bathroom was large for New York standards and the shower was excellent. The staff made sure you had everything you needed, including reservations for dinner. I loved the coffee machine in the lounge and the goodies that were available throughout the day and evening. The location of the hotel is great.

I recently completed a two night stay at this property in a corner suite (X04 units) and was slightly disappointed. I came in excited to try this new property and the unique pied-à-terre styling after many great stays at other Hyatt properties including the two nearby Andaz locations and Park Hyatt locations worldwide. Upon arrival, the front desk area is incredibly small without any real space to wait or desk to speak of. Check-in was fairly efficient although no assistance with my luggage was offered.

The room was fairly well laid out with a separate living and sleeping area. I found the room to be adequately sound proofed despite the fact that the bedroom is all glass. Bathroom was disappointing especially the weak shower pressure. Living area had a unique kitchenette with microwave, honor bar, Nespresso machine, Fisher & Paykel drawer dishwasher and a display of eight overpriced mini bottles of cheap wine.

The second floor contains the Lexicon Lounge which is the heart of the hotel. There is an espresso machine and water available around the clock and that's about it. Mini muffins and petite pastries are available in the early morning in limited quantities, hard pretzels and assorted cookies in the afternoon and cheese in the evening. Not quite like the Andaz with complimentary wine, juices and other refreshments available around the clock. The fitness center is adequate and contains treadmills, recumbent bikes, and ellipticals (all Life Fitness with integrated LCD TVs) and a combination unit in the adjacent strength room.

Overall I was disappointed with this hotel and will stay elsewhere in New York. It's worth noting this property is a category 4 in Gold Passport (unlike other NYC properties) so it may be a good value for points redemption or annual Hyatt card free night award.
