Description: Mulberry Project is a chic restaurant and subterranean cocktail lounge tucked beneath the 'Mean Streets' of little Italy, and boasting an impressive outdoor garden in the rear. The ever-evolving menu of creative small plates by Chef Michael "Kiwi" Camplin prominently features market fresh, seasonal ingredients and a variety of flavors to please all palates and perfect to share. The market fresh theme continues behind the bar where some of New York City's premier bartenders offer a 'no-menu' approach to cocktails, striking up conversation a and tailoring each guests' libation to his or her particular taste with fresh fruits and exotic ingredients. Installations and exhibitions by notable street artists adorn the walls and outdoor space, harkening a New York that is seldom seen anymore.

Custom made drinks tailored to your tastes are the standout in this small speakeasy behind an unmarked door in Little Italy. Sneak past the tourists munching on their linguine and you'll feel like someone in the know. Skip the cellar like interior and grab a seat on the fantastic outdoor patio in the back if possible. Staff is a little off putting with their Lower East Side hipster vibe, but the bartenders know what they are doing and mix amazing drinks. My wife and I described two different things and got very similar drinks, but we both loved what we had. Start with one of the adjectives or flavors on the board and describe your favorite liquors and flavors to the waiter and let them make you something memorable. Great place to hangout on a warm night.

Found this hidden in Little Italy. Great bartenders, and high quality drinks. The "menu" is a chalk board with 12-15 items on it. You call your spirit, and ask the bartenders to mix with the items that they have sourced fresh for that day. Many herbs, fresh pear, strawberries, and watermelon were on the list the evening we visited.
It takes 8-10 minutes to receive the cocktail, as everything is muddled, mixed, and strained on a drink by drink basis. If you are not happy with the creation, let the server or bartender know. They will make you a new cocktail. It is a basement location, with no name on the door. Kind of a insider's, secret handshake, type operation. Highly recommended if you are in the neighborhood.

I've been here twice and have enjoyed it. Both times we bot there early, when Mulberry Project is quieter. I hear it gets crowded later, but part of the fun is to interact with the bartenders, so I prefer the earlier experience.

There are no menus here. Just tell the bartender what you're in the mood for, and they'll make it for you. The bar lists the fresh ingredients available on a blackboard, so you can tell them "blackberry, basil and vodka" and they'll concoct a drink to your tastes.

The place is dark and cozy, and it has a nice patio out the back. The front is unmarked, so you have to know the address. In fact, it remains unmarked after you descend the half flight of stairs--just turn left and walk in.

Go to Mulberry Project with a sense of adventure, and it can offer a fun drinking experience. If all you want is a vodka tonic or beer, this ain't the place for you.

Hidden on Mulberry, down a flight of stairs through an unmarked door, you'll find a little place with bespoke cocktails. Take a look at the board, pick your alcohol and a couple of flavors and let your bartender do his magic.

Was a little difficult to find but was worth the search. I loved the concept of choosing the style and contents of your desired cocktail and loved the results.
