Having read reviews and guide books I was expecting big things, but I was in for a let down, I did not found it very informative honestly.

We arrived to the city during one of the hottest weeks in history. The inside attractions were very crowded and although I remember reading that this museum was on the "suggested donation" rate, the admission prices were very high. We enjoyed the atrium and the gift shop on three floors but didn't pay to do the entire museum as my 10 year old had already reached her limit.

If you buy tix. ahead of time you can use a kiosk to pick up tickets with no wait in line. Otherwise you will be waiting at least an hour to purchase tickets. Without attending added attractions you could spend a full day just looking at exhibits. So, plan your day around the Imax, cooking demonstrations etc. Great place for a hot day to get away from the heat.

the cost?= a donation, what you will see is nothing short of awe inspiring, from the dinosaur bones to the ginormous blue whale hanging from the ceiling, to the beautiful marble columns on the entrance floor with the teddy Roosevelt quotes carved in the walls. For anyone who has enough money to afford the gas and parking (not expensive) , or even take a bus, you have got to come see this place! What an education! I cannot wait to go back! Oh yeah, be prepared to spend most of your day here.
