Wonderful food and service, by far one of the best restaurants in Little Italy. They made our little girl very welcome too.

Well, against most of the advice on tripadvisor my wife and I went to Little Italy during our visit to New York city on vacation last week. We walked Mulberry Street looking for a place to eat and for no particular reason settled on eating at Sofias Little Italy. What a mistake. We ate outside & had to put up with watching the doorman google and gawk at every female that walked by. Then we waited for every little thing to be searved to us as our waiter and the doorman fooled around and made small talk as if the waiter had nothing to do. Even getting a basket of bread took forever. But the worst was the meal. Come on, we ordered chicken parma & it was as tough as shoe leather. Honestly, my index finger was cramping up trying to cut it with a knife. Matbe it was just mine, but when I asked my wife she said hers was the same way. Also, when I asked for some more iced tea another glass was brought & yes - another $4.90 charge. Come on, it is only iced tea !!!
Really bad place and I hope other readers will take this advice and eat anywhere else. After our dinner we walked across the street and the two restraunts across the street were packed - we should have noticed that and eaten at one of them.

Walking in Little Italy, we wanted to taste the Italian food in Mulberry Street. Very nice street full with restaurants. We finally picked Sofia's as the menu look OK with OK prices. The waitress proposed some dishes that were not on the menu card. This was the wrong thing to do!!! The food was good but overpriced. They charged us over 30$ for a paste dish with fish.
We should have asked for the price when the waitress proposed these dishes.
The food was good but the price was not.
