“Not commercial, just good”
Reviewed July 10, 2012

We found this place because a bartender at a more commercial place said he went there after he finished his shift. We wanted a place where locals went for a good craft beer, and this was it. The bartenders were good and knowledgeable, the locals were friendly, the food was good, the beer was great. We stopped there twice on our four day trip, and each time was great.
If you want a good local bar with a great selection where you feel welcome go here.

“What a find”
Reviewed July 3, 2012

Tries to emulate an English pub. Fails but achieves something far nicer with its wide range of artisan beers, laid back ambience and some excellent food. Used it 5 times over a 3 week period as a couple and with friends. Beers are interesting and bar staff knowledgeable - crowded from 5 pm to 7 pm through the working week but a bit quieter later in the evening. Cobb salad as good as any we've had and prices (for New York) modest. Just a few steps from Broadway but so much more relaxed. Worth visiting for a sight of the old cigar store (and cigar store indian) next door.

“Great friendly pub with good beers”
Reviewed June 17, 2012

Found this little gem round the block from our hotel and glad we did. The staff were friendly and knew their stuff about beers, especially Rachel.

We never ate here but would have done of we were hungry as food looked good.

We always sat at the bar and chilled out as it was relaxed and had quite a few locals which made a nice change from the bustle of the city.

“Great Burgers and Fries”
Reviewed May 18, 2012

It was snowing and cold in NYC the night that we decided to eat at Albert Hall Tavern. Because of the horrible January weather the place only had about half a dozen tables of customers.

I was really in the mood for a burger and fries and this tavern didn't disappoint. The interior is dark and cozy. Candles are on the table which make it more inviting and pages from old books are varnished on the wall instead of traditional wallpaper.

We had the hot spinach and artichoke dip appetizer with crositini. It was good, but there was triple the amount of dip for the few pieces of crostini given with the plate. We had to ask the server for more, otherwise, we would have had to eat the remaining dip with a spoon.

The burgers here are so delicious! They are fresh ground and juicy and cooked the way you asked for them. Mine came perfectly medium rare-topped with fontina cheese, onions, dill pickles and ketchup. It comes with duck fat fries and garlic aioli. Yum, yum and more yum. A Blue Moon on tap with some orange slices is a pretty great pairing for this meal.

This burger with fries is definately worth the $15.00 price tag in my book.

The only thing that is lacking for me at this restaurant is the service. You had better hope to not want anything between placing your order and the end of the meal when the waiter asks if you want the dessert menu. You can't find your waiter anywhere in between! I do have to say that it may have been an isolated incident as the weather was terrible and they may have been working on minimum staff because of this issue. Only time will tell...I will go back for the burgers in the future.
