I was told by a relative that this hotel is a very good one and is ideally located, two blocks away from Times Square.
From the moment I got out of the taxi to departing 72 hours later, my experience was very good.
I got an upgrade to a room with a view of the Chrysler Building. And I got a free voucher for a glass of champaign. They surely know how to treat their customers.
On the second day of my stay, I lost my wallet when leaving the taxi in front of the hotel.
A day later, it appeared that I did not leave it in the cab but it fell out of my hands on the street. One of the Sofitel employees found it and gave it to the security staff of the hotel.
I would never have believed that my wallet was going to be returned with everything still in there.
I know where to go next time when in NYC.
Staff is very friendly without being over the top.
World class!

Room Tip: Ask from room 1820, view on Chrysler building tower

Stayed here on a business trip and was irritated I had to work would much rather have hung out there. The staff were, as always at Sofitel's, unendingly helpful and charming. The room was great - not big but hey it's NYC - if you turn around witha bag in hand you're lucky in most places. The location is great with Times Sq just far enough away you can pretend it's not there if in your face buy me buy me buy is not your style. All in all a haven from the madness with just enough NYC style to feel like you're in the Big Apple.

I have recently visited this hotel for shopping with my father, it was an amazing stay and the manger could not do enough for us, with 29 floors they are more than happy to cater for anyone I am sure! They have fast wifi for the guest which you can access anywhere in the hotel as a young lady I look at the art and they have beautiful gestures like the flowers a and the sofas in the lobby. Also the beds are to die for the comfiest things ever!! And you go out the hotel and turn right walk straight down and you are in the centre of everything truly amazing trip but most of that was down to this hotel I am visiting again in summer and already booked this hotel to stay in.

We had a great three night stay at this hotel. We would agree with other reviewers that this hotel provides a calm, discreet and relaxed ambience away from the hustle and bustle of midtown New York. However it is also within pleasant walking distance of most major attractions including for us going to the theatre.

The rooms are of a good size with excellent facilities. The wardrobe area is well set out and the bathroom with bath, shower and lovely toiletries and towels including candles had that added extra. It was quiet at night and the beds were very comfortable.

As we were celebrating a special birthday we also enjoyed cocktails in Gaby's bar and these were excellent and good value in nice surroundings. All of the staff were very helpful and the public areas were kept clean and attractive to sit in. The free wifi in the rooms and public areas as well as easy access to a printer was helpful. We hope to stay here again.

First class from start to finish in Sofitel NY. Stayed on the 27th Floor in a Suite (can't remember exact room number).
Service was impeccable, hotel was centrally located near times square and fifth avenue.
One recommendation would be to venture out for Breakfast. Red Flame diner down the street, but also further afield.

Room Tip: Email in advance to let them know you are travelling for a special occasion. If they can, they will...

Positive points:
-Employees are great, offering warm welcome and always available.
-Breakfast is excelent
Negative points:
- TV quality: most of the channels were not displayed in a good quality, shame for a "luxery hotel"

This was our first trip to NYC and we chose the Sofitel after reading mainly positive reviews. We had a room on the 22nd floor. It was well insulated and quiet. Furnishings were nice and the bathroom boasted an excellent efficient and spacious shower unit. There was plenty of marble in existence giving an aura of understated elegance. The only small detail that let it down were single (but significant) cracks in both the cistern and the toilet bowl itself. The hotel staff were all charming and helpful in the best kind of way; invisible unless you needed them, and helpful and knowledgeable when you did. We had booked on a room only basis which was great as there is a great (and always busy) Greek/American diner a few buildings away and an excellent coffee shop opposite. The concierge could be relied on to provide great tips too: he pointed us in the direction of Johns Pizza (2 blocks away) which was excellent value for money (tip: DON'T over order the portions are Huge!) Although if you do order too much they will happily wrap any slices of uneaten pizza individually in silver paper so you can either eat them cold or reheat them at your leisure.
The hotel kindly agreed to let us stay in the room until 2pm on our day of departure at no extra cost which was typical of the attitude during our stay. Room service was prompt and efficient with nothing too much trouble. Overall, despite being a large hotel the feeling was of a small intimate haven where we could completely relax. There is, simply no reason at all not to recommend it.

Room Tip: Ask for one overlooking the main street outside
