The one thing that keeps me coming back to Sofitel hotels is the bed. It's the best night's sleep! I collect A-Club points on business trips in various hotels and always look forward to using them in this and other Sofitel hotels. As a Platinum member, I get a room upgrade and a welcome drink (champagne or cocktails) for both my partner and me.

The Sofitel, located in the heart of the city, allows the traveler to make the most of even a short stay because everything -Broadway shows, museums,Fifth Avenue and Central Park- are easily accessible. The service is always impeccable and a warm and gracious welcome by the staff at Gaby's Restaurant makes an occasional visitor feel like a recognized VIP. Whenever we think of possibly doing" something different," we agree that there's no point in changing what works so wonderfully well.

Had a great time at the Sofitel NYC. Very large room for NYC, great bathroom with luxurious shower and all the vanity trimmings you could ask for. Close to the touristy stuff, but far away enough for some quiet. Would love to stay again!! Staff were very nice and Lo'Occtaine bathroom products a lovely French touch.

Ideal location. Had quite a large room for the NY standard (same for the bathroom). The staff was ok but nothing more. The furnitures, carpet and curtains were a bit tired and colors were sad. The bar is not the Sofitel's bar and ordinary. I didn't experience the breakfast as it was too expensive. Compared to the nearby Novotel (which has a very nice view on TImes Square for some of the rooms), I'm not conviced it disurves its 4 stars ... There are so many other nice hotels in NYC that I would not recommend this one

Dear Guest

Thank you for taking the time to write about your recent stay at Sofitel New York. We are sincerely sorry that your visit did not reflect the high standards that we set for our hotel. Our goal is to always exceed our guests’ expectations. We value your comments and we will take whatever steps we can to correct the problem.
Regarding the furniture and fabrics in general, I inform you that we will do a renovation of those materials this year, we expect to have all the rooms new at the end of September.
We are very pleased that you enjoyed the size of the room and bathroom, that is a real advantage we have, mainly in New York.
Again, please accept our apologies. We hope that you will consider staying at Sofitel New York again so that we may show you the gracious hospitality and superb service for which we are known around the world.
Sincerely.

We travelled to New York for the Easter holidays and had booked a Junior suite as we were bringing our teenager with us this time.

We were allocated room 2906, which although did not have as good a view as last year in room 2922 - it was far roomier.

The lounge area turned into our daughter's bedroom and the once we asked for the bedding on the sofa bed to be changed from sheets and blankets to a duvet, it was as good as the main bedroom.

They changed the mattress on the sofa bed to what felt like a Tempur mattress with the duvet and bedding that this hotel is known for.

We have never slept in such comfortable beds!

The bathroom is huge - you could have a party in there.

The hotel left anniversary cake for us, which was a delightful thought.

The only difference between last years stay and this year was the complimentary bathroom soaps etc are now Hermes, which is very luxurious.

I could not fault this hotel in any way. The staff are polite, professional and attentive.

The rooms are spotless, spacious, comfortable and clean.

The location for us is perfect.

What more could you possibly want?

I know there are plenty of hotels in New York, but I will not go to another. Why bother when you have found perfection?!

It's definitely on the high end of 4 TripAdvisor circles, overall. The pros: the beds, the location, large-ish bathroom with separate tub/shower, nice gym, basic rooms are ok size for NYC (although the basic room is a queen not a king-sized bed). Everyone was very polite and attentive. The cons: cushy hotel room carpet might be a benefit for some but to me it's just...ick. Also, for my taste, they went a little overboard with the whole "we're a French hotel" thing. All basic greetings are given in French (on the phone, at the desk, in the corridors). Amusingly, when I replied in French with more than a brief response, one particular employee seemed stunned (maybe it was my accent).

Overall, the hotel has the potential of being a good value for the right rate and the location really is very convenient.
