This was my second stay here and won't be my last. The suites are among NYC's most spacious, well-appointed, albeit with too-cool-by-half controls for the lighting and the shower, which seems to be the fad in new hotel construction. The beds are comfortable. There don't seem to be any noisy rooms as -- perhaps uniquely in NYC -- the hotel overlooks no busy streets. The beds are comfortable but not remotely as comfortable as the bathrobes. I even bought one to take home.
However, just like the last time, breakfast took about 45 minutes. It's worth it because the ricotta pancakes are almost light enough to defy gravity, but there is no sense of urgency down there. The servers carry one or two items at a time, rather than using trays, almost as though they are getting paid by the mile.
The only other thing I'd ding them on would be the fitness room, which was not up to the standards of other high-end hotels. One weight machine and midrange ellipticals.
Nonetheless it was worth the 65,000 Hilton points (about 2 years' worth at my rate of accumulation) and I look forward to visiting again next year.More
