I am extremely disappointed with my two stays at the Conrad NYC.
During my first stay, I upgraded to the "Superior Riverview Suite". However, what I got was a small glimpse of the Hudson River in between two buildings. When I checked-out and told the staff, they answered by telling me "this is NYC it's hard to get a good view". So why does the website say the Superior Suite offers a "stunning" view of the Hudson? They also told me I should have asked for room 1528 that has the best view. How was I supposed to know that? I was also told by the staff that my suite is considered a river view by the hotel, but it really isn't.
Since I didn't learn my lesson the first time, I made the unfortunate error of staying a second time. I thought my first experience was an exception instead of the norm. After all, it is a Conrad, and I was sure I would receive better service the second time. Well, that was poor judgement on my part.
During my second stay, I found out my room rate was substantially reduced from the rate I booked it for. When I asked if they would honour the reduced rate, the staff member told me I must be mistaken, as the price I was referring too is a group rate. I didn't pursue this further, and later found out that I was correct, and the room rate was reduced by 60% from what I paid. After trying to talk to management, I realized they wouldn't credit me the difference. I will not return.
I am the type of customer that will pay for value, and would be loyal to the Hilton brand if I felt valued. I do not book hotels because of a cheap rate, but for the value of the experience. In this instance, after two very negative experiences, I will never stay in any Hilton hotel again.
After talking to many levels of management, I received conflicting answers to my questions. I am not impressed with the way my concerns were handled.
I agree with the earlier post, that says this Conrad is a 3-star masquerading as a 5-star. This is not the quality of service I expected from a Conrad.
I do not feel valued as an HHonors member. I am switching to Starwood.
