“Spacious room in a quiet location”
Reviewed June 17, 2013

We attended a wedding in the LES this past weekend and booked the Conrad at the last minute (we prefer lower Manhattan to midtown and upper anyways). Most would probably find the location a little bit out of the way but we preferred being in a quieter residential area and since it was the weekend the regular business of the financial district is not an issue. The hotel is right across from the biking/jogging paths of the Hudson and has great views (ferry stop also across the street). There is also a nice children's playground for families. Tribeca and Soho are a quick stroll away. In the immediate area of the hotel there are plenty of restaurants, a Regal theater, grocery and drug stores, all the necessities of a real neighborhood. Our room was extremely clean and spacious. The sitting area, bathroom/wetbar area and bedroom were each partitioned off with japanese style sliding doors (others have complained about the layout of the room but we liked it). The rooftop bar does have quite a nice view but unfortunately closes too early (midnight, much too early for New York!!).

I booked the weekend wind down for my boyfriend and I to get away and relax. Upon our arrival the service at the front desk was excellent we were able to check in 1 hour in advance (thankfully, as it was pouring outside). The lobby decoration is sleek and beautifully lit, somewhat reminds me of the chandelier lighting at the cosmopolitan hotel in las vegas. Unfortunately the dreamy ideal comes to an end shortly after. The packet I purchased included complimentary drinks each night, the vouchers arrived extremely late the first night so we did not have time to use them. The second night we didn't get vouchers at all we had to call a manager (who had to call us back later) then within 30 minutes of the bar closing we were told to head up and order and that the manager would speak to the bartender to let him know. The day we checked out were were also charged over $50.00 from the minibar that we did not use, I was tired of complaining so I just let it go. lastly and sadly, no one offered to take our luggage upon arrival.

We stayed in the Conrad from Thursday June 6 to Sunday June 9. The hotel was beautiful with a separate living room, bathroom, and bedroom, and all the comforts of a 5 star hotel. We had a corner room overlooking the Hudson River, and it was a spectacular view. The area around the hotel has many restaurants, a movie theater, and a breath taking park along the Hudson to walk or ride bikes. We travel to NYC several times a year and have stayed in almost every area of the city, but this is one of my favorites. If you enjoy a nice hotel this is the best option in the warmer months. The 1,2 and 3 train is about 3 blocks away on Chambers Street with the Starbucks right across the street. On the express train you can be in Times Square in about 15 minutes. We also had no trouble getting a cab when needed. The staff was pleasant and helpful. We will definitely be back.

Room Tip: Ask for a Hudson River view room

My wife and I were looking for an upscale, modern/sleek hotel to spend a romantic weekend in Big Apple. Based on the online descriptions and reviews, we booked a King-Superior Riverview Suite at the Conrad NY for two nights. We arrived late Friday evening (11:15pm?), departed Sunday noon. Facilities - beautiful lobby, super modern and clean! Rooms were super clean and quiet. When we arrived, we were so looking forward checking in and grabbing a quick dinner at one of the two bars. Darn! The lobby bar/restaurant was closed/closing and the rooftop bar was shuttered due to a storm. No worries, we'll just dine in our gorgeous room w/ a view. When it took 4 tries to reach room service, that should have been a clue, but we were famished/desperate. So we ordered a juicy burger for me, frittata for her, plus 2 beers. We were told 30-40min ... ok. After 45min, I phoned and they promised to deliver in 5min. When it arrived 30min later, food (burger/fries) was already lukewarm. Delivery person said food was still hot, but clearly not. Insult to injury -- 18% gratuity + delivery fee. To be fair, they offered to deliver another burger ... but, it was already past 1am and time for bed. The right answer would have been credit for a future meal? Another minor annoyance - I believe that the bed in our room was Queen-sized, rather than a King. (At least my king bed at home is *much* more spacious). When I brought this up to the clerk, they would not acknowledge or even check into it. In a nutshell, beautiful hotel spoiled by awful service ...

I can say that this was one of best overall hotels we have stayed in in NYC.

Having stayed at a number of different hotels, this was my 9th stay in New York in 5 years - the room at The Conrad was the most spacious and the nicest room we have stayed in.

The room was very clean and well looked after. The bed was very comfy and the shower was great!

Breakfast on the last day was very very slow! However the lady at the bar at night was great!

The bad part - I booked 2 rooms
Under my name for my husband and I & also our friends. When I emailed about adding another night to our booking only , I was told there were two bookings under our friend - even though it was made on my credit card.

When we checked in, it was still under our friends name and also meant an expensive package was redirected as there was no guest under my name - so we spent the next 2 days trying to locate and have delivered before we left the city and also before Memorial Day! The manager and Darwin on the desk were helpful and managed to locate and get it delivered.

However trying to get to the bottom of whether it was the hotels fault or booking.com fault for the 2 reservations not being in my name has been a task and a half!

I just want to know who was responsible!

We wasted lots of time and money (using uk phones) trying to locate the package!

Overall a great hotel, but won't be rushing back or rushing to use booking.com

This is a former Embassy Suites converted to an all-suite Conrad just across from West Street and the World Trade Center site. The rooms are sleek (beautifully designed and decorated), spacious and extremely comfortable. The doors are all the sliding type that essentially act like moving walls that can separate the living area from the bathroom, and the bedroom area from the bathroom. There is a huge shower, which is separate from the sink and toilet. It doesn't feel like a hotel room, but more like a chic apartment. I've stayed here 4 or 5 times in the last six months and will stay again for any business downtown. I haven't tried the restaurant in the hotel, but there's an upscale BBQ place right outside the rear entrance to the lobby which is great.

Stayed here for two nights prior to a cruise for a girls get-away. The weather had turned very bad, but they provided terrific umbrellas for us to use. The front desk called us when the room was ready, and had our bags delivered from the bell desk for us. The room(s) were airy, large and comfortable, and in great condition. The bathroom was very nice, and the walk-in shower was terrific. Loved the bath products, they smelled wonderful. They had the best hair dryer I've ever used at a hotel. There was lots of storage, with two closets in the bedroom. The beds and bedding were amazing. So incredibly soft and comfortable - I wanted to bring one home. We loved the hotel and its location, so easy to walk to 9/11 memorial, Chelsea, West Village, etc. The subway was also a quick walk, even in bad weather. Pick-a-Bagel and Shake Shack were in the complex, and were very yummy.
