“A completely faultless Hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 11, 2012

Checking in is extremely easy using the screens in the main reception . The rooms are very modern and clean and linen on bed changed each day. Showers are very powerful and large cubicles. On each floor there is a room with a coffee / cappuccino etc machine which is free and available 24/7. There is also an ice machine and use of the fridge to store any food.

The hotel is well situated as it is only a short walk to the centre of New York.

I would definitely recommend this hotel .

Yotel looks promising when you enter; all that crome and funky stuff, old bicycles hanging from the ceiling and what have you. But once you get to your room, your "cabin", you discover that it's tiny and doesn't have a single table to put your laptop on. The toilet/shower area has no door, just flimsy curtains. There is a transparent sliding door to the toilet, one that doesn't close entirely and you might as well do your business outside the room as everything is audible and visible to the rest of the people in the room. My daughter and I decided to take turns, while one had a shower and went to the toilet, the other one went down to the lobby. The beds are hard as concrete and the bunk bed above the queen size bed didn't even have proper bedding- a nasty polyester blanket instead of a duvet cover. Hideous. And cleaning in the morning; that proved to be difficult. We went out for 3-4 hours in the morning and left the sign on the door handle saying "please clean the room", but when we came back it was just as we had left it. I dashed down to the reception and complained and they promised to "sort it out". The restaurant doesn't serve breakfast after 10 o'clock, actually at 10.30 we were offered coffee and from the menu all kinds of Oriental dishes, like Sushi and stuff. So we had to go to Starbucks. In a way the hotel seems promising with that modern look, something different and green. The front staff was helpful, but when I came down and complained about something, such as cleaning, other people were complaining about the same thing. It seems like things don't work like they should do at this hotel and all these flaws are camouflaged by the funky appearance. Stupid tourists are easily trapped, I suppose. Certainly I am no exception.

Room Tip: Take a room high up, less noice and no one can see you in the toilet as you are totally exposed to t...

Hi SigurdoHelsinki, thank you for your review. We are so sorry that you were disappointed with your stay. We try to be very upfront about our cabin size, design and amenities, on our website, as well as through all correspondence with the Crew. Our customized Strada bike has been placed on display in order to inform all of our guests of our new program that provides guests with a very cool, new customized bike to tour NYC for less than $5. Cabins are cleaned throughout the day. However, for expedited service, Mission Control is more than happy to assist. Our apologies if you were unaware of the breakfast hours as well. Our on-site restaurant does only service breakfast through 10:00am during the week. However, our Mission Control and Ground Control Crew are always available to assist with any recommendations as Hell’s Kitchen is known for their food. You could eat at a new place every day for a month and still barley scrape the surface of all of the delicious eateries! If we have the opportunity to welcome you back, please don’t hesitate to reach out prior to your stay to us at reservations@yotelnewyork.com and we would be happy to give you the low down on all amenities and area attractions.

What an unusual hotel
It was hip without being intimidating.
It's location was excellent for a quick walk into times square or the subway. excellent view of the Hudson river from our room.
The restaurants around the hotel were good too, recommended by the concierge.
While other rooms say that the rooms were small we found that there was plenty of room.
The rooms have an excellent design to make the most of the space.
We loved the electric up and down function of the bed. The only negative was that the mattress was uncomfortable a bit hard.
The muffin for breakfast was great.

Best front desk person I have ever met in my life. Thank you so much NJ for making an unpleasent situation great and fun for me. No need to explain the details. Travellers usually face problems when they have time differences so it is great for someone to empathize with your situation.

My wife and I stayed here for three nights in July 2012. It was a great hotel and was totally different from any other hotel we have stayed in. We got an upgrade to a room overlooking the hudson which was in the end was fantastic to watch the 4th of July fireworks! The room was the Premium Queen Cabin, and although quite small when the bed is down flat it is fine when the beds back is in the more upright position. We dined at the japanese style restaurant on the first night and although it was expensive it was very good food! The staff were very friendly throughout the hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on a high up level ( above 18) for good views.

Travelled with my girlfriend to New York and choose Yotel because it looked cool and different from the usual choices and location seemed to be pretty good.

We booked a Corner room which was on 16th floor and was fantastic, the views were stunning and the room was clean and spacious with a suprisingly confortable bed!!!. The gallery was a great idea, and being able to pop (in our case next door) to get ice cold water or a coffee, hot chocolate etc was fantastic. They had a fridge and microwave in there aswell.

What suprised us the most was the location was absolutely fantastic, with almost everything we wanted to see so easy to get too.

The hotel itself was clean, modern, with very helpful staff, (loved the music too). Too be honest we couldnt fault it, it excelled our expectations in everyway.

There was a diner we used for breakfast just 2 blocks up 42nd street called the Theatre Row Diner which was fantastic, we kept going back for breakfast as it was so delicious and reasonably priced.

The soundproofing was suprisingly good, didnt have a sleepless night at all. You do still hear the sirens and hooting, but it wasnt loud enough to effect sleep.

When we return to NYC City Yotel will without a doupt be our choice of hotel again. Right now having withdrawels from the whole experience :(. Would go back tommorow.

Room Tip: Corner rooms are spacious, very comfortable bed with the most fantastic views.

I booked a two night get-away for my husband's 60th birthday weekend, thinking this would be a fun and different hotel stay for my "geek" hubby. Both of us work in the Information Technology field. It is immaculate, with a convenient location, and the staff was helpful and attentive. We were on the 18th floor and had a nice view of the city, but my requested upgrade to an official view cabin was not available when we checked in. The rooms are compact, but very comfortable. However, there is no door to separate the bathroom from the bedroom -just a curtain- so, if you aren't inimate with your roommate, that may be an issue. They were fast to bring new batteries for the TV remote.

The highly touted Sunday brunch was the one noticeable problematic experience. We had reserved an 11:00 seating (that's when they open) and we arrived 10 min early. We were told we couldn't sit anywhere in the area so we stepped outside on the terrace - it was cold and drizzling rain, but we stood under the covered section. At 11 we went back in, but it was obvious they were still not ready. They did give us a table to sit at but they were still setting things up, and by the looks of things, we weren't going to be able to eat any time soon. After a few minutes we decided to cancel our brunch reservation and left to find another restaurant nearby. Oh, and a note for those of you not from NY: they can't serve alcohol on Sundays before noon, so not sure what the put in the mimosas or Bloody Marys they supposedly serve with brunch from 11-12.

I would say that the atmosphere of this hotel is more youth oriented. The music they play is not anything I would voluntarily choose to listen to. They were nice to us, but more focused on a younger clientele.

Hi SalsaPower, thank you for your review! Happy Birthday to your husband! We are honored that we got to share in such an awesome occasion. As techies, I hope you appreciated the kiosk check-in, Yobot, bed that moves to a sofa at the touch of a button, towel warmer, and flat screen TV with iPod connectivity. Our sincerest apologies however, regarding the brunch. We strive hard with our partners at Richard Sandoval Restaurants for an informal and relaxed, yet efficient experience. We will absolutely be following up with them on the seating and hours. As for the music, it is a fun, eclectic mix, isn’t it? During some tracks, I feel like I could be in a scene from a James Bond movie. Lol. Thank you again SalsaPower! We do hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back. If so, please contact us directly at reservations@yotelnewyork.com for any assistance whatsoever.
