As soon as we hit Times Square, we were accosted by a very pleasant vendor of the bus tour tickets. We opted for the 72 hour ticket - just a little dearer than the one day ticket.
We figured that we could use the bus to visit various parts of NYC that we wanted to see.
But, after our first attempt to get back from Central New York down to Battery Park, in southern Manhattan, we are are having second thoughts.
It is soooooo slow! Which would be ok if the chat was good. Our guide was clearly a failed stand up comedian who should have been put out to pasture long time ago. And he seemed to be making it up on the hoof. We spent an eternity going round in circles of 5th Avenue, 7th Avenue and Madison constantly being told about the shops that we all know about anyway.
After taking about 2 hours to do a trip that is only about three miles, as the crow flies, we alighted the bus feeling more exhausted than when we got on.
If you want to see the city, you don't have much alternative but maybe the southern loop of NY is just not as interesting as the rest.More
