I'm from NY, I always see these tour buses filled with tourist so I decided to see what the big deal was. The tour guide Silvia, was very knowledgeable and entertaining. She gave us opportunities to take photos and kept us well informed of all the historical sites. Even being from NY, It was a great experience and if all the tour guides are like Silvia it explains why the Gray Line Tours are always packed. I would definitely recommend this tour to everyone.

We paid for 6 tickets but were only given 2. After riding one bus they make 6 of us get off and tell we must go to their office to dispute the issue. Management made us wait 90 mins until their employee returns to discuss the issue. The employee argued that we should have walked back 6 blocks to dispute this with him instead of his boss.

Very frustrated with Gray Line. $100 for a day time downtown loop plus tour. Bus did not take us anywhere that wow'd us, except down to Ground Zero. Pretty uneventful. The bus passed by Pier 17 (South Street Seaport), barely got a glimpse of the Brooklyn Bridge, could barely see the Statue of Liberty, pointed to Stock Exchange down the street, did not even drive by.

Our first tour guide was of Asian descent and could barely understand her. Customers around us were looking at each other like, 'are you kidding me?' We got off a block or two from St Paul's Cathederal, visited the 9/11 memorial, then got back on. Our second tour guide on the way back to our original destination (Times Square) spent about as much time talking as he did not talking. And he would leave the microphone on and either on the ground when he would walk away, or hanging off the rail. When the microphone would bounce around or get bumped or kicked by people coming on / off, it would be extremely loud on our ears. A guy in front of us actually asked if there was an off button on the microphone.

During our trip we also used the MTA subway and found it easy to use with plenty of stations. The subway system was also laid out well and pretty easy to follow. I would suggest using the subway or bus system as the knowledge gained for the amount of money spent was pathetic.

Use the subway!

For our last night in NY, we decided to go out in style by doing this tour. It was average, but not as good as I expected. First off, we spent ages in traffic. Our driver, Tommy, seemed to have a bit of road rage, but it actually came in handy as we would have never gotten to our locations otherwise. Bonnie, our guide, had a very good knowledge of NY and shared some very interesting facts with us. However, she kept us late by going to get herself a coffee and chatting to other employees before starting our tour.

We never got the fully guided Chelsea Market walking tour that was included in the price of our ticket, and it was not even mentioned to us that it would not be going ahead. We weren't given any sort of explanation, which was a little irritating.

I enjoyed the dinner in Grotta Azzura. I found it to be a nice little restaurant and if it's good enough for Frank Sinatra it's good enough for me.

The statue of liberty water taxi was good. It was nice to see the statue and the Manhattan skyline at night, and although the complimentary champagne tasted pretty bad, it was still nice to get.

We were then dropped off at Top of the Rock to go view the city from the Rockefeller Centre, which was also nice but our guide never even explained to us where to go when we got off the bus, or didn't offer to give us directions about how to get back to wherever we were going.

All in all, an average tour with a guide who could be better if she included everything we were supposed to see in the tour, or at least explained why we weren't getting to see it.

We bought two of the $59 48 hr tickets and planned to do 3 of the loops. At first it was great, with a good tour guide with lots to say about the city, and who reacted quickly when we got caught in a huge rain storm. We jumped on and off, but each time the tour guide was informative and personable. So by the time we decided to go on the 3rd tour, of the Bronx, we were pretty hopeful. We swapped buses, but then, along with about 30 others, were just left sat on the upper deck of the bus, sometimes in the rain, for about 45 minutes without moving with very little information being fed up to us. At one point they said we would leave in 10, so we sat patiently, but then nothing. Eventually one of us went andasked, and it was seemingly only at that point that they decided a public announcement might be a good idea. They said they had been waiting for a tour guide!! And not sure they even apologised. So along with others we decamped to a bus run by another tour company, which was even worse. Overall, the day was fine, but that wait was absolutely shambolic!
