Description: David Burke Garden at The James New York is an unparalleled outdoor space with its own bar and seating for 130. The space, along with the hotel's urban garden, is landscaped with herb beds and flowers by horticulturalist Rebecca Cole and decorated with sculptures made of recycled materials that reflect the rustic, whimsical vibe. Guests can begin a meal at David Burke Garden with snacks and starters such as a tomato, ricotta and eggplant trifle, tuna tartar tacos with whipped avocado and tomato gazpacho with watermelon and rock shrimp. Sandwiches such as the soft-shell crab with salted mango puree, pickled vegetables and Old Bay mayo and the bacon cheddar Kitchen burger with jalapeno fries complement the open-air space, which also features a 14-seat chef's table and private cabanas. At the bar, sun-brewed iced tea is served in glass jugs, with flavors such as Meyer lemon, hibiscus and ginger-peach. David Burke Garden is open weekdays from noon to 10pm and from 11am-10pm on weekends.

We came to celebrate a birthday. We used a Groupon, two people for $39. There was Groupon 3 course menu. I had the Greek Yogurt Parfait and my boyfriend had the Irish Oats. The main course was eggs benedict, which was good. The French toast was amazing according to my boyfriend and my friend. The cocktails looked really good and the coffee was OK. Very fruity and veggie cocktails. Good atmosphere. Fun to people watch... Nice to see the trendy folks taking a break from shopping in Soho.

After being seated, they ignored us and ignored us and ignored us. Spicy meatballs were good. Lobster bisque less so.

It was pretty quiet the night I was there (perhaps because we were early birds) so I'm not sure it's a 'hot spot', but the menu delivered. It was interesting without being pretentious and every bite was absolutely to die for. Do not pass up the chance to bite into crunchy bacon followed by a perfectly tender date with gooey peanut-buttery deliciousness in the center. Still thinking about how tasty that combo was! Also, save room for dessert!!!!

Nice guy and nice restaurant, great wine and cocktail menu.
The dumpling duo was fantastic!
And I thought the grilled chicken BLT was nice.
My husband and I would go back for sure.
It's in The James Hotel! NYC

enjoyed lunch at David Burke Kitchen yesterday. Is is a modern but casual, open space filled with light. They have a great 3 course lunch for $25 which offers most of the menu as choices. Don't miss the pretzel crusted crab cake! It is delicious and beautifully presented. In fact, everything we had was delicious and beautifully presented!! The desserts are not to be missed...the chocolate malt cake has 2 different sauces, coffee ice cream, a chocolate garnish, and crunchy homemade malted milk balls the size of large bb's...just fantastic! The server was friendly and very pleasant. We have eaten at many very nice restaurants on this most recent trip and this was one of our favorite meals.
