This is truly a gourmet experience with phenomenal food and drinks. the decor was tasteful and the spice mixes were innovative. In the basement, there was a display of the custom mixes of spices they do which was fascinating. As an Indian American, I am usually not interested in eating Indian food in restaurants, usually everything is much better at home. The inspired, creative dishes here were something really out of the box that took ideas from various regions of India but was also combined with elements native to this hemisphere. Our waiter was very honest and steered us towards fantastic dishes. Some comments I have read about the small portions are true but I think no different from most gourmet offerings. At our table, we discussed the quite variable reviews that we had read online and we asked the waiter about them. we found out that they have had some intermittent coverage from their executive chefs but that has been addressed and they will have consistent coverage starting this month. He didn't say that was the reason, but it makes sense. Some can't miss dishes: eggplant Chaat (app), garlic cauliflower (app), lamb/turkey kebab (app), hyderabadi chicken korma (entree), baby eggplant (entree) and paneer app. We had a chili paneer that was really hot, which I didn't eat but everything else was mild enough. A word about the drinks: really interesting. the most INCREDIBLE, ABSOLUTELY delicious drink was the ginger punch served in a copper mug on ice with a honey flavoring. Just wonderful. the mumbai margarita was great. in the bar we were served the Masala Margarita which is a flaming drink which was a spectacular display but a little ho-hum in the flavor department. Desserts were uncharacteristically good for an Indian restaurant. the chocolate hazelnut cake, and the goat cheese cheesecake were really really good. The reason for 4 instead of 5 stars was the bathrooms. NOT at all up to par compared to the rest of the experience. for such a great restaurant with attention to the detail of the spices, the bathrooms are just gross. Not unusable, if you have to go, but not too nice. sort of gas station level. Otherwise, though, had a great experience. I will definitely go back.
