We absolutely loved the Canal Park Inn! It was exactly what we were looking for in so many ways. Very friendly owners and staff who will go out of their way if you need something, but generally leave you alone. We really only saw them at breakfast, where we had great conversations, and got perfect advice on anything we were wondering about. I have no doubt that if we needed something at another time during the day, though, they would have responded promptly. The neighborhood is very peaceful for NYC, and wonderful to walk through. I find it laughable that another reviewer thought it was sketchy due to scaffolding. I don't know of any neighborhood in Manhattan without scaffolding - including the Upper East and West Sides. We never felt unsafe, no matter the time of day or night.
Most importantly to us - it was VERY clean. We're the kind of weirdos that immediately pull the sheets back and look for any signs of dirt. The sheets were spotless, as was everything else. The linens were also high quality and very comfortable. The room (The Kennedy) was nearly silent as well, with the exception of an occasional faint howl of a siren. This is an impressive feat in this city. Looking forward to coming back!
