While walking from Battery Park to Times Square we were looking for a nice place for lunch. We didn't want a huge meal as we had a large dinner planned. We just wanted someplace with atmosphere, light eats and friendly service. We found all that at Turks and Frogs at 458 W. Greenwich St.
We ordered a sampler plate of appetizers and each one was delicious. Our waiter was a nephew of the owner and was very pleasant and helpful in describing what each appetizer was. He recommended a Turkish white wine that was excellent. We sat at a table right by the open door and thoroughly enjoyed munching as we watched people walk by. It had a real neighborhood feel to it.
The price was very moderate and we would definite return to this great little restaurant.

We went for drinks and appetizers to the turks and frogs and stayed there for 4 hours on a Friday evening. It is a nice place to catch up with friends, there is a great wine list for affordable prize, nice mediterranean food and no hassle from waiters bringing the check without us asking for that (a big problem in NYC). I really recomend it!

there is nothing to say other than everything was delicious - every appetizer (grape leaves, smoked eggplant salad, lentil patties, mint zucchini pancakes, phyllo rolls), every main dish (lamb Tandir, grilled chicken yogurt kebab, manti, vegetable strudel [a bit different, perhaps french-influenced, but still interesting, if not as tasty as the meats]), every desert. Since it was a private party and was held buffet style, it was not clear how what we sampled was related to the regular menu (everything on it? some things for large gatherings only? just a few choices out of many?), but, assuming everything we tasted was on the regular menu, we were quite impressed, which is saying something since we dine at middle eastern restaurants regularly. Although not from NYC, if we lived there, we would return to try everything on the menu we did not get eat at the party.

The bartender also seemed pretty talented, apparently having some sort of special /house cocktail that was a reworking of a mojito but made without rum - it was far better than any mojito i have ever tasted.
