It was amusing to be asked if we had booked when the place was half empty when we arrived......but we were seated promptly and the restaurant is a beautiful space.
The cocktails were a bit overpriced for their size and content. However, the food is good!
Portion sizes of the appetisers is large so be aware!! The Samosa's were excellent!!
Both the chicken dishes and vegetarian dishes tried were excellent, sizeable and excellently spiced. The rice & naan bread were large enough to be shared.
Definitely worth trying if in Tribeca.

We were excited to see this restaurant when they opened - it is very stylish and good looking inside. We tried it out during the first months, and found the food quite good, but the service was pretty bad. We chalked it up to inexperience.
Fast forward to now - they have been open at least a year, and probably more. We went in at 7:15 on a weeknight - about 1/3 of the tables were occupied. We would have preferred a booth - most were empty, but set up for 4, so we did not ask.

After a glass of wine and about an hour wait, we noticed the waiter serving dishes that looked suspiciously like what we had ordered to two nice women at the next table. I tried several times to flag our waiter, and finally got 3-4 guys explaining that they had indeed given our dinners away - so another 20 minute wait was in order. They did bring some appetizers over, and offered us another glass of wine, and we had a good laugh with the other customers.
Food is good here - but the service really needs improvement. Water glasses are re-filled at every sip, many staff members to and fro throughout the meal, but no one seems very efficient. I don't think we will go back any time soon.

Seriously one of the best Indian restaurants in New York, possibly best outside India. Excellent food, service and ambience. Don't miss it!

We had plans for a lunch in Tribeca, but the famous restaurant we wanted to go to was closed. Tamarind-Tribeca was across the street and having had a great experience in the Tamarind on 22nd, we thought why not. How glad I am that fate shined on us and we went to Tamarind instead!

Tamarind is large, very sophisticate modern with a glass enclosed booth where the chef prepared Tandori dishes. The staff is exceptionally well trained and the service superb.
The food was equally superb! We selected from the lunch menu, and were treated to the best Indian food in New York. Just simply wonderful. The regular menu is not as extensive as many Indian restaurants, but everything looks delicious! I can't wait to go back.

One of the best Indian restaurants we have been to. The food is good , the presentation is good and the atmosphere is really chic and good. Which is not the case in other Indian restaurants, it is usually good food but not great atmosphere. If you like Indian try this restaurant
