“Never again”

The food was cold and pretty expensive for what it was. The service was really bad. Also, 18% tip is compulsory. Don't go there.

“O.K. for a quick meal before theatre...”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 11, 2013

Four for pre-theater lunch. Burger ordered rare and cooked that way. Unusual. Quite good with a nice salad. One ordered Veal a la Creme... soup bowl of cream sauce with veal. veal good... too much sauce. Penne with vegetables o.k. Huge portion. Caesar salad with chicken good, but not huge. All came with free wine. We ordered calamari but it never came. they offered to bring it but it was too late. Cappucino machine out of order so we couldn't have it.

Waitress most pleasant. Service timely and good. Atmosphere o.k. Nothing special.

“Nice ambiance but pay attention”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 8, 2013

Walking along 8th avenue, the lady outside started to talk to us with very attractive offers on food/drinks. We step inside and with the live band it look very nice.
First problem was the too cold air conditioning. That would be solved quickly by giving us another table. But the table was already promissed by another waiter. So waiting a bit longer. But finally we got a good table.
The food was good but the price of the food was not as promissed by the lady outside. When addressing to her, 5 reasons why we did not get the attractive prices. But all of them were just excuses: get people in with nice prices and than charge them the full price.

“Pleasantly surprised.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 18, 2013

We ducked into this restaurant after seeing they had a dinner special of burgers and fries...we have 3 kids who wanted burgers and didn't want to wait in line for an hour for one...Our waitress was very attentive, especially toward my daughter who was tired and cranky from walking all day. We were pleasantly surprised at the delicious food! (they have a great menu that isnt just burgers) The atmosphere was unique and inviting. Loved the music too. A great resting spot for tired tourists!

“A nice break from the hustle and bustle of Times Square”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 15, 2013

L'ybane is one block away from Times Square, but seems a world away in its flavorful menu and huge selection of wines. The happy hour specials are very reasonable: pasta or salad with a glass of wine for $15, burger and beer for $15, or steak and beer for $21. I chose the shrimp penne in cream sauce with sangria. I was seated at the front, right next to the street. This offered a wealth of people watching as the walked up and down 8th avenue. My sangria was brought quickly. It was very sweet and refreshing, but not very strong (a good thing if you're spending the evening walking around Midtown). My pasta came in a reasonable amount of time, but with only 5 shrimp and some were small. The pasta was cooked al dente and the sauce flavorful. My meal was satisfying and enjoyable, although it was difficult to get my waitress's attention as I hardly saw her. I would have given 5 stars if the service was better. I would return, though, as the rest of the menu looked very interesting and L'ybane has gotten other good reviews.
