“Noisy with excellent mussells and oysters”
Reviewed July 27, 2014

Recently had dinner on a Thursday night. Arrived on time for 8:30 reservation, and still had a 15 minute wait. The crowd was very young, hip and loud. We were seated in the back dining room where the noise level was off the chart. Could barely hear our dinner companions without shouting. That said, everything else was outstanding from the service to the food and wine. The oysters and mussels were fresh and the preparations very tasty. Will definitely go back, but will reserve a seat on the small outdoor patio where the noise levels are much subdued.

“Excellent”

Amazing mussels, especially the lobster bisque sauce, great service. Dessert was a bit over hyped, but still worth trying.

“Decent food, but slow”
Reviewed July 15, 2014

Nice choices for mussels. Sadly no grilled fish choice. Everything feels like it's laden with butter. Service on Friday night was very slow.

“Flavors are creative, mussels are ok”
Reviewed July 12, 2014

Everything about this restaurant was fine, the variety of flavors was impressive; overall food quality was good, service was not bad. The only disappointing thing was the size of the mussels. Not sure if this is the standard for local cultured mussels, they are just about 2 cm.

When I was in Toronto and Hong Kong, I had big fat mussels that were really plump and full to the rim of the shell. Understand it is not fair to compare but if this is a restaurant specializing in mussels, I would expect higher quality in the size and plumpness of the mussels themselves and not just a big variety of preparation styles.

We started with three appetizers, then two pots of mussels, one dessert plus beverages and felt already pretty full. The entire meal was only $175, which was more than reasonable.

If you want to bring out of town friends here for a fun eating experience and lively ambience, perfect! But if they had exposure to gastronomic mussels previously, you'd better manage their expectation first.

“tasty mussels & great oysters!”
Reviewed July 5, 2014

This was my second time eating at Flex Mussels and I'm happy to say they were as good as I had remembered. It was pretty busy when I went, and I did not have a reservation, but the hostess happily cleared us some seats at the bar. I liked that not only was the bartender a female, but there was a woman running the oyster station as well - not something you see too often. I had a selection of their east and west coast oysters - a nice variety with 3 of each - and followed that with the Mexican mussels (chipotle adobo, chorizo, calamari, cilantro & lime) which were flavorful and lightly spicy. I think for the $ this is a really good value and their mussel menu variety has something on it for anyone.
