Visited this establishment with a friend who is very familiar with the city. The food was excellent. Best tortilla soup I have had in years. The tacos of carne asada were excellent. Dessert flan was very good as well.
The atmosphere is very lively with music playing in the background and the restaurant was packed. Service was very good, the waiter was friendly and attentive. Prices are just like anywhere in NYC but it was very good.

Food is top notch. The Sopa Mariscos is not to be missed. A nice variety of seafoods in a warm, spicy broth that tickles the taste buds. But if you are in to Tequilas, ask the knowledgeable bartenders to bring you some of the best Reposados in existence.
Very friendly staff and traditional recipes for great Mexican food.

I would almost move to New York City to be able to eat here again. It was the BEST Mexican food I have ever eaten. We ordered three appetizers to share and could have stayed there all night if we didn't have tickets to the Opera. It was so authentic, beautifully served, absolutely delicious with flavors that made you want to close your eyes and just savor as long as possible. The service was excellent too and the price extremely reasonable.

I hadn't been uptown on Lexington Avenue in a while, but there are some nice restaurants springing up there; this is one.
For a taqueria, it's really nice inside. The name seems to have nothing to do with El Paso, TX, since there were doodads from Oaxaca around the place. The decor has a lot of terra cotta, for a comfortable ambiance.
The waiter was a little eager to sell the homemade guacamole, but at $9 for a bowl, no thanks. I got a draft beer, in a nice fancy glass.
I had the mole poblano, which was really good, and my wife the mole pipian. Our friends had tacos, 3 fish, and 3 meat. Everyone liked their food a lot.
For dessert, we got the chocolate hot lava cake, and that was fine too. Everything was completely satisfactory.

el paso taquieria on the east side of lexington was a great choice. i opened with a taco trio of carnita, al pastor and lengua (beef tongue). service was quick, and the dos equis lager was a good match. each taco had a huge pile of meat--the tongue was nicely seasoned, and as expected, succulent. the al pastor was surprisingly lacking in flavour, but the carnitas had a nice piquant. overall, a good trio. the dinner burrito of skirt steak arrived in a timely fashion, and was excellent. the beans and rice could have used a bit more spice heat, but the spicing of the grilled skirt steak was top notch, with smokiness and good depth. filled with roasted onions, peppers and mushrooms, the burrito was delicious and a large portion, which i could not finish.
