We had a great time getting to know some of Harlem! Our guide, a life-time resident, knew the history of this beautiful neighborhood from the inside out. We learned a lot, enjoyed the beautiful architecture, and ended at our next destination, the Harlem Jazz Museum.

Wasn’t sure what to expect. Given address two days prior to event. Event stated jazz hors d’oeuvres wine & dessert. Well we arrived, it was someone’s private home, magnificent spread of food laid out told to help ourselves, unlimited wine & soft drinks. Excellent jazz trio. One of the best two & half hours I have ever spent. Excellent value for money.

Caroline welcomed us into her home before we started the tour. She is a lifelong resident of Harlem, and her love for her neighborhood shined throughout her entire tour. Everywhere we walked, she greeted friends. Her historical information was mixed with her personal knowledge of many of the current owners of the properties we passed. Furthermore Harlem’s Central brownstone area is beyond beautiful. Lunch is a soul food, salad buffet restaurant was fine. I expect to take more tours with Caroline.

Very nice music. We did expect to see some more of Harlem but maybe we have to do another kind of tour for this.

Carolyn was an enthusiastic and informative guide who has lived in Harlem all her life. She happily shared her views on the developing culture, politics and business of this vibrant community. Lunch was at a funky neighborhood “soul food” buffet restaurant with an A rating and excellent food. Don’t miss the chance to tour an important part of New York City with a knowledgeable resident.
