We spent two hours listening to a great set. The Church was bright and airy and the quality of music fabulous. Great vibe and something a little different from the norm in NYC.

Our guide was a wonderful, warm woman who was very professional. She made sure each of us were happy, where we wanted to be and knew when we could get food, drink or just listen to the music.
The two locations she took us to were very local and were places we were unlikely to have stumbled across. The first place was great and we really enjoyed it but as we started the evening at 6pm in summer it was still full daylight and felt like a Sunday afternoon jazz bar.
The second place was busy and really pumping. We saw about 5 people sit in and apparently there were many more lined up. With the diversity of talent and the ability to play of each other the energy kept getting higher. Was sad to leave, and in all honesty we could of stayed, but we all (there were only 3 in the group) had early morning commitments.
In between the clubs we got some fantastic oral history of Harlem and the local music, theatre and civil rights scene along with a concise history of the churches we passed. They all seemed to be very intertwined.
Highly recommend this evening and apparently the Thursday evening is different again so worth doing both
The show was incredible amazing. Every visitor in New York City should come to see and enjoy this jazz show.
We spent a couple of hours listening good music and really great artists. Thank to all the staff of this event!
My daughter and I made reservations for the Mount Morris Park tour. It was a Monday and we were the only ones on the tour. Sheryl, our guide, gave us the option of doing the Renaissance Tour which included some indoor venues. It rained fairly steadily the entire walk, but we each had an umbrella, so it was fine. Unfortunately the bookstore is closed on Mondays so we missed that, but overall, it was a great introduction to the heart of Harlem. Sheryl is very personable and knowledgeable.
Welcome to Harlem's Jazz Parlor was an incredible experience. From the setting, to the refreshments to the music, it was an authentic evening that I would recommend to anyone searching for a unique night out.
