Gotham hotel is by far the nicest hotel I have stayed at in New York. I highly recommend it. Nice friendly staff. The rooms were very nice. The beds were very comfortable. Was nice having a mini fridge in the room. Very quiet and relaxing. Price is pretty good for being in New York! I come often to go to the Redken Exchange and know from here on out this is where I will be staying!

Room Tip: We were on the second floor and it was great!

Best Hotel I've ever stayed in in New York. Beautiful rooms and the bathroom was just divine-- no bathtub but this was compensated with a great rain shower head and C.O. bigelow toiletries. The room was immaculately clean and extremely spacious for New York. Would stay there again in a heartbeat. It is important to note though that they don't have a "proper" lobby like most hotels do but that didn't bother us one bit as they had staff available at all times of day.

We spent this past weekend at the Gotham Hotel. On the positive side, the staff was very friendly and helpful. We received a glass of wine upon check in and found a bottle of Prosecco waiting in our room which was a nice touch and part of a package which we had booked. The room itself was a nice size (certainly by New York City standards) however, it was on the back side of the building with a very small balcony which looked out at a wall and multiple mechanicals from the adjacent buildings (see photos). The bed itself was very comfy however, the air conditioner was so loud that every time it went on we were awakened from our sleep. The bathroom was pretty small although it had a large "rain shower", it was more like a "drizzle shower" as the pressure was very weak. There was a small stocked refrigerator however, there was no in room safe which I have rarely if ever seen. The location is great for all of the sites and shops of midtown.

Room Tip: Get a room on the front side of the building to avoid looking out at a wall.

Surprisingly impeccable hotel. Spacious room, great bathroom, good location, nothing to complain about. Excellent value for money for Manhattan. I would definitely recommend this hotel to friends and colleagues.

This is a great property to stay at as a group of friends or a romantic getaway. My husband and I stayed one night at a great rate. Our room had a balcony and was very big for NYC. The bathroom was large and had a rainfall shower that my husband enjoyed. There is a small fridge and adequate closet space. Because the hotel building is thin, there are only approx 4 rooms per floor. Which allows for quiet sleep. The bed is also very comfortable. They bed as facing away from any interior wall so no neighbor noise. The elevators are fast and the staff couldn't be any friendlier. So helpful, although I did have to ask about my welcome glass of wine, as they were busy. The toiletries were very nice. We slept in late and did not get to try their breakfast, but the location of the hotel cannot be beat, there are tons of restaurant options and grand central is only about a 7 min walk to make many metro connections. I would definitely recommend and come back.

The hotel is in a great location! The staff could not have been friendlier - Thank you! We brought our two little dogs and our staff did nothing but adore them. The bed was outrageously comfy and our room was quiet and dark (we never knew what time it was when we woke up!) The shower is very nice, the water was more than hot enough. I even liked the pick of the complimentary shampoos, etc.

There is a continental breakfast in the very dark backroom bar. I could have passed on this "meal" and gone to Dunkin Donuts next door, but again the staff are friendly and honest about the cost upfront. At least the coffee was great!

We will stay here again next time we go to NYC :)

We spent a week in NYC to mark our wedding anniversary and was at the Gotham for the duration of our visit.
Check-in was swift and efficiently handled - only a couple of minutes. That was greatly appreciated and in stark contrast to the atrociously managed immigration checks at JFK (we had to queue for longer than 90 minutes). We were allocated a quiet room on the 9th floor at the back of the building. Much to our amazement, there was a bottle of wine an a couple of glasses waiting for us courtesy of the hotel staff - how very thoughtful!
The room was spacious, spotlessly clean, and had a huge, comfortable bed. The shower seemed to run out of hot water after a few minutes. Two of the table lamps seemed to have minds of their own, switching off intermittently. However, the two things we missed most were an electric kettle for hot water to make a cup of tea and a room safe to keep valuable and important articles. Coming from a country where "everything stops for tea", not being able to have a cup of tea at any time of day does not fill us with glee. In mitigation, a call to the front desk resulted in the quick delivery of a teapot of hot water and two cups for our tea!
The hotel staff were all more than helpful to us. It was our first visit to the Big Apple and their directions and advice were just what we needed. Thank you all.
The location of the hotel in 46th Street between 5th Avenue and Madison is really central to the tourist spots we wanted to visit. The Rockefeller Centre, Empire State Building, Times Square, the theatres, Central Park are all within easy walking distance. The subway at Grand Central is also a few minutes walk away if you want to use the Green Line to go downtown to the financial district.
Although the hotel has a restaurant, we did not use it either for breakfast or dinner and so we cannot comment on it. Gregory's Coffee next door does great coffee and cakes. We had breakfast there every morning.
On balance, the hotel and staff helped to make our stay comfortable and they get an ungrudging excellent rating from us.
