“Excellent and unusual Italian food”
Reviewed July 28, 2013

This was our third visit, the others 18 months ago. Same great food, same great service by Maria.

The menu is very expansive and with unusual dishes, not at all like most Italian restaurants, although you can also get the classics, very well-prepared.

We were staying way across town, our relatives way downtown but converged here, based on our prior experience.

We were not disappointed, which is always the fear when you return to the site of a phenomenal meal... We will be back in November!

“Worth seeking out on 9th Ave - Hell's Kitchen”
Reviewed July 27, 2013

The wife and I were simply walking around the neighborhood of the hotel we were staying at looking for an interesting place to dine. We were not looking for Italian necessarily but the menu board of this attractive restaurant called us in. We were seated immediately and the restaurant was quite busy - a good sign!

I had Polipo scottato as an appetizer and the octopus was perfect and delicious. We each had a Cesare salad and we both agreed these were close to extraordinary. My wife had the veal marsala while I order Strascinate pasta. Her veal was was the size and shape of a pork tenderloin and while delicious she was expecting the traditional "pounded" veal marsala. We switched plates and I gave her my pasta which far exceeded my expectations. Perfectly al dente with a lovely red sauce.

The house gave us a fine dessert to share which was a nice touch.

We would visit again in a heartbeat.

“Sophisticated Italian dining”
Reviewed July 20, 2013

Small, sophisticated , intimate Italian restaurant. Impeccable, professional service but not at all stuffy, indeed quite friendly. Did I mention the food was excellent and quite a good value for NY. They offer a $40 price fix menu which I highly recommend. Portions not large - not a place to consider sharing an entree as you might in some of the family style Italian restaurants reviewed. We had sea bass, an eclectic salad and tiramisu, all excellent. Price for 2 including wine, tax, tip $120-140. We also ate at Palma in the Village which was similarly rated on TA. Il Punto far superior, one of our best NY dining experiences.

“Lovely place to dine”
Reviewed July 15, 2013

Decided to try this place out after reading reviews and was not disappointed. On entering the layout is spacious simple but elegant. The menu has a number of classic italian dishes and also includes daily specials. Ordered the risotto and cannelloni and for entree we had gnocchi. The gnocchi was lovely unlike the tradional style. It was prepared more as a potato dumpling and served in a rich lemon sauce. The cannelloni and risotto were both very well presented and extremely tasty. The dishes although italian are not classic italian they have a lovely western or modern element to them. Desert was the tastiest lemon sorbet ever. All up the meal cost us $95 this included wine. Service was exceptional and the waiting staff kept a close eye on us throughout the night. Would definitely recommend this to anyone wanting a special night out or something a little bit classy
