“Friendly, Professional, Best Location”
Reviewed December 17, 2013

My husband and I recently stayed at the Pearl and had a superb experience. Couldn't ask for a better location. We stayed five nights in December - our room was on the 7th floor, overlooking 49th street. The staff was very friendly, went out of the way to be as helpful as possible with whatever question or need we had. Complimentary breakfast was complete with fresh fruit, bagels and pastries, etc. - perfect. Rooms were wonderfully appointed - natural materials; travertine, glass tile, soapstone counters, etc. - tv in bathroom! Our first choice for return trip.

Researched New York hotels thoroughly before deciding on The Pearl. Great location in 49th Street, right round the corner from Broadway, subway stations, Broadway theatres, Hop-on Hop-off bus stops, restaurants etc and the vibrancy of New York City. The rooms are spacious (3 of us) and the fittings and fixtures are modern. Plenty of hot water for showering, good heating system with double glazing which helps to keep out the expected traffic noise. Some other comments have said the lighting is poor but we found it adequate and if you really want, makeup mirrors are available on request. Free wifi and a coffee maker in the room also.
Complimentary breakfast is more than adequate with a choice of juices, cereals/oats/granola, toast/bagels/assorted pastries and tea and coffee.
With the staff very welcoming and friendly, we loved the Pearl and would recommend it to anyone staying in New York.

Room Tip: Whilst this hotel does not have views of the New York skyline, you are more than compensated by bein...

I brought my family here for a week in early December 2013; I usually stay in the quieter Upper West, but since none of my family had been to the USA before, I decided to try for a place 'closer to the action' near Times Square. The staff at this hotel are all very professional and welcoming, yet I felt largely underwhelmed about the general value on offer. This is why I will probably not choose to stay in the Times Square area again - the extra noise and hustle is not worth the extra accommodation costs.
Other pluses:
1. Upon our arrival at around mid-day we visited the complimentary breakfast area, but were very disappointed about the little that was on offer. For the duration of our stay hereafter, we chose to have our breakfasts at nearby restaurants in the area. However on our last morning we tried the hotel breakfast out once more (but earlier this time), and were very pleasantly surprised about the real variety and selection on offer. It would definitely have sufficed had we tried it again, but we had clearly missed this trick!
2. The restaurant on site (E&E Grill House) served probably the best burger that our family has ever had!
3. Complimentary internet access.

Room Tip: Try for rooms as high as possible to get away from the noise (especially early morning!).

Only a short 2 night visit this time but yet again bowled over by the service and peace and quiet of this fabulous hotel.
Nothing has changed since our first visit and that is exactly how it should be.

A bit out of our usual price range, but worth every penny (please continue Sunday discount - fabulous value!). This lovely hotel is in the middle of everything. The super staff make you feel welcome and special; the rooms are large and well decorated; the bathrooms are beautiful; and the concierge is excellent. The little reception and breakfast both exceeded our expectations. We would definitely recommend the Pearl.

The hotel is well located close to time square and still in walking distance to 5th Avenue for shopping. It's situated next to two theaters and a metro station.

The rooms are clean and large with big beds and a walk in shower.

Breakfast was included but only extends to pastries, cereals and snacks. However, the are many great dinners or deli'snearby which give you the opportunity to see and experience more of the city.

The best feature of this hotel has to be the staff! They were fantastic and seem to be genuinely happy to see us each day. While service in the U.S. Is usually pretty good, the staff at the Pearl are in a whole new league.

The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was the small breakfast offering as everything else was good. If you're planning on visiting NYC, you can't go wrong with this hotel.

Room Tip: Breakfast is on the second floor so you might want to go higher to avoid noise.

I wanted a quiet upscale location near Times Square/Theater District as I was attending two plays over a weekend. The staff were professional and friendly. Cleaning staff accommodated my schedule as did the hotel for a slightly later checkout. The included breakfast was attractively presented and more than adequate. I've had worse and dislike going out early especially in poor weather. The area is very much a lounge but serves its purpose. Room t-stat allowed me to adjust temp to my preference. That said the halls are dark, the lighting in the bathroom throws shadows at the sink, rooms need more pillows (small) and closet hangers - small matters. Interesting how newer hotels are appearing in sites with small footprints allowing for the boutique concept which I much prefer. Did not eat in attached restaurant as I prefer to meet friends or family at places they choose or bring in food to eat in my room utilizing microwave and refrigerator. Note: rooms do not contain meal service items although there was a cupboard area.
