“Nice room, excellent service, great location”
Reviewed May 22, 2013

My family and I stayed at the Pearl Hotel this weekend. We took the "Red Eye" from Los Angeles and showed up at the hotel on a Friday morning at 7am. No rooms were available, which is understandable. However, to my surprise, we were invited to breakfast. How hospitable!! While the hotel is pricy (for our budget) but after staying there, I thought it was a good value. The room was modern, clean and very comfortable. Also a good size (for New York standards). The hotel is in the middle of the Theater District, minutes away from Time Square. On the day we checked out it was raining. They were nice enough to loan us umbrellas for the day (which of course we returned when our car service arrived at the hotel), again, very nice of them. I am not a big breakfast guy, so the breakfast was perfect for me (bagel, yogurt, pastry, Juice). Everything was fresh. This is a smaller size hotel (again, for New York standards), and despite what seemed to be full occupancy, the internet worked at very fast speed, which is not the case in most other hotels. I hope to have an opportunity to return.

I liked this hotel. But the reception is not friendly at all. I mean is it so difficult to smile?
However we got an upgrade. Instead of a superior room with one king-size bed we go a superior room with two king-size beds. I appreciated that. Unfortunately no city view as requested.
The room was nice and big. In the afternoon you had always a complimentary cheese and wine session. It was nice and the lounge was cosy. The internet in the business corner is unfortunately not free of charge you had to swipe the credit card. The Wifi however was free. But we had to print our boarding pass. The breakfast was nothing special could be better for a 4 star hotel.
They offered a shuttle service to the airport, which we used and it was comfortable, easy and not expensive at all in compare to the taxi.

We stayed in this hotel 5 times now over the last 2 years and it is the best in New York for location and size of rooms. As it's last renovation is not that far in the past the rooms are modern and fresh and have little kitchen area with proper fridge, microwave, good size flat screen TV and contemporary bathrooms. Rooms are also reasonably quiet for where it is. Try to get a room higher up. Staff at reception are alright but I have seen better. Bellmen are very nice and courteous. Of all the hotels I stayed in I would always look at the pearl first however due to pricy rooms at peak seasons the company travel policy doesn't always allow it.

When we planned a long weekend of Broadway shows, we immediately booked The Pearl. It was our second stay at the hotel. It's perfectly located for shows, dining and shopping. Christian, our concierge, was great. We plan to keep going back.

We loved this hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable and very clean. We loved the complimentary breakfast and the wine hour. A great retreat for such a busy city. And the location was ideal for someone who wants to be in the heart of Times Square.

We stayed one night at the pearl. The hotel location is very near the main broadway attractions and times square. The hotel staff is very friendly and cooperative, we asked and got a room on the top floor. The room was very large (30 sq meters at least) but the view was mostly blocked by the nearby buildings.
Breakfast was ok but not exceptional, not to meny vegetables (continental).

Room Tip: Ask for the rooms on the top floor.

We were here for a week in May and had requested a quiet room as we were concerned about the noise on New York's streets. We were delighted with our lovely, super-quiet room away from the hustle and bustle. It was perfect to return to after a busy day. The room was spacious and very clean and although the bed was a bit too soft for our liking it was large and reasonably comfortable. The staff were extremely polite and helpful. We will definitely be recommending this marvellous little hotel to everyone.

Room Tip: Request a quiet room
