I picked this hotel initially due to a pricing error from the hotel/Booking.com website. It came up at $15 for 3 nights. I booked it before even looking at any specifications or reviews, simply saw it was rated 9/10 by guests. I knew this was a mistake but thought Id risk it on the off chance they would honour it.
I received an Email a couple of days after booking (by both the hotel and Booking.com) advising that unfortunately there was a pricing error and they could not honour the room at the price of $15 however they offered a 50% discount and the price for 3 nights was offered at $370. After having read some of the reviews of the hotel and looked at the pictures etc... I still believed this was a good price and so agreed to stay. Having just stayed at The Pod hotel this price offered was cheaper than The Pod.
Firstly, check in for the hotel was supposed to be 4pm but as I was checking out of the previous hotel for 12pm I asked if I could check in early. Jose (the reservations manager - who was fantastic with his Email communications) agreed to try and arrange a room for 12pm or they would at least store my luggage.
When i got to the hotel I was pleased that they had managed to sort a room out for when I arrived. I was told by the check-in desk about Breakfast, complimentary wine hour and the free Wifi details and advised where my room was. As i entered my room I was amazed by just how big it was. Ive stayed in a few hotels in New York and none of the hotels have been anywhere near the size of the room I had. I stayed in a Superior Queen room (room 308) which overlooked patios of rooms below on the second floor. There was complimentary Champagne and chocolates in the room (as I arrived on New Years day). Huge bed with great bedding, walk in wardrobe, plenty of drawer space for clothes around the rooma well, 2 phones, a desk to work from, TV with plenty of channels (including sports - was good to catch the premier league football whilst away), good sized bathroom with a huge walk in shower and a great little coffee machine. I was so impressed I spent about 4 hours in the room before heading back out into the city.
There was a small fitness room which I didnt get time to use. Breakfast was decent (and free), offered bagels, toast, boiled eggs, cereals, coffee and orange juice and fresh fruit.
The location was brilliant (especially if you're a fan of Times Square). A number of subways within a couple of blocks, 10 blocks to Central Park, a few blocks to Rockerfeller and 5th Ave too.
Couldn't be happier with the hotel or the service provided by them (doormen, desk workers). On my second day I left the "Do Not Disturb" sign on the door as I didn't have any need for the maids to make up the room/change towels as Id stayed only 1 night by then. When I got back to my room (approx 6pm) I had a message waiting on the room phone advising me that they had noticed the sign and should I wish to have the room made up to give them a call back. I thought this courtesy call was another example of fantastic service.
Overall, very impressed with every aspect of this hotel and can see why it is rated #8 in NYC on Tripadvisor.
