After many hours of comparison on trip advisor we selected the Pearl for our 7 night stay in NYC and boy, what a great choice it turned out to be. Executive summary: I recommend to book it if you are looking for a spacious room at a very competitive price in a central location.

Location: The hotel is situated at 100m from Broadway / Time Square and to two of the main subway lines. We like to walk a lot during our city trips and the central location gave us a great start each morning in either direction. Central park is on 20 mins walking, 5th Avenue is on 15 mins, Madison Park is on 30 mins. Broadway is literally on your doorstep and although Time Square obviously is busy, we were not bothered at night by outside noise. The location is very safe, there are always people around in the street.

Price: average price for 7 nights was around 220$ per night, which we considered a great deal, especially when comparing to the alternative hotels in this area. Breakfast is simple, but sufficient and for free! Initially we planned to have breakfast outside the hotel anyway, but we changed our mind after the first breakfast experience. Although limited in choice compared to big hotels (no scrambled eggs, no coffee service, no cheese selections etc), the toast, bagels, muffins and pastry were more than enough to have a good start of the day. Yoghurts, serials, juice, coffee/tea, all the basics are present. It is constantly being stocked as well, we never ran out of anything. Considering the fact that is all for free, we have no issue with the fact that it is served on plastic plates.

Room: the room was the biggest surprise. It was as spacious as the rooms we have encountered in most big hotel chains outside New York. The inventory was very complete and offered far more than we needed, the design was very contemporary and the bed was comfortable. Although we did not spend much time in the room (basically only the nights), it was a pleasure to return each day. A suggestion for improvement is that the aircon system cannot be turned off, which we actually prefer to do at night. There is some minor street noice during the night, but that is acceptable considering the prime location and the fact that you are in NYC and it did not bother us at all.

Staff: in short - very friendly and very helpful.

The Pearl really has over delivered on our expectations and we will definitely book it again next time we are in NYC.

If you're headed to NYC to see Broadway shows, this could be your hotel. It's a small hotel, with good service, free WiFi, free breakfast and a free wine happy hour (pretty unusual freebies for Manhattan). My room was well furnished by New York standards, and everything was in working order. All of the theaters are nearby, within walking distance. The hotel often upgrades guests, which is also a nice perk.

My complaints: apparently there's no room service breakfast, there were no electrical outlets near the desk in the room, which meant I had to plug in my phone and computer elsewhere (kind of ruins the idea of a even having a desk).

Comfortable hotel in a great location right across the street from the O'Neill Theater/Book of Mormon venue. Walking distance to the Ave of America's, Times Square, Rockefeller Center, Shake Shack, Magnolia Bakery, Bouchon, NBC Studio, Hell's Kitchen, the 49th and/or 50th street subways, Port Authority, etc.! This hotel is not a 5 star hotel, but the front desk staff and the great guys manning the entrance were attentive, customer service oriented and wonderful all around! My only minor gripe, housekeeping serviced rather late in the day, and it was due to the high volume of check-outs I believe. Housekeeping was very apologetic and offered to make-up our room right away, but we had just returned from a 5 hour walkabout and we wanted to relax! We stayed for 3 nights in a Superior King that was quite comfortable and roomy. Our room rate included free wireless internet, daily continental breakfast/PM wine and cheese reception, which we did not take advantage of. Our room also included bathrobes (no slippers) Philosophy toiletries and a Keurig coffee maker. The heating/air conditioning system was user friendly and easily controlled. Overall, a very pleasant and nice stay that included a surprise bottle of Prosecco for us to enjoy! The New York Times is also available on a daily basis for pick-up at the front desk.

We stayed there four nights for a mixed trip of business, visting family and recreation. Great location off of Times Square. The hotel is very nicely decorated, clean and comfortable. The staff was very nice to us and followed up on everything with a phone call to check our satisfaction. The room was beautiful, chic, modern and comfortable. Great shower and bathtub and plush towels as well. Because of the small size of the hotel everything felt cozy. The continental breakfast was great. I used the gym which they said was small. It is, but the equipment is brand new, state of the art and perfect for my needs before heading to work. There were so many nice perks such as towels in the gym, complimentary umbrellas in the room to use, outlets built into the nighttable (very nice perk so you don't have to move furniture to plug in equipment). We didn't know it would rain when we went to the theater. We got drenched coming back. No problem, as we were close to the theater, went up the elevator, changed and right back out to an awesome new bar/restaurant just a few doors down. We stayed in a deluxe room which was nice as there was a fridge for bringing food back from the Food Emporium. The bed was very comfortable. We forgot to check the make of the pillows which we loved and wanted to buy for ourselves. We look forward to returning. I hope it is not booked up when we do.

Room Tip: We stayed on the 12th floor which was on the street. We had no problem with noise. There are only...

I chose the Pearl after reading other reviews on Trip Advisor for my first trip to NYC. Was really glad I made the choice. We had a really nice room, clean, modern and very comfortable. The location is fantastic and the staff were incredibly helpful. NYC is such a wonderful but exhausting place that it was great to have such a lovely hotel to come back to each evening. The trip was a surprise for my partner's 40th birthday and the hotel staff left us a bottle of bubbly and a card for him whilst we were out. They had spotted his birthday cards! For a clean, stylish, well-located, non-fussy hotel in a mad city, I can't fault it. Breakfast was a bit samey but continental breakfasts always are and it's a bonus to get one included in the price in an American hotel. Would definitely stay again.

Stayed at The pearl 25.2.12 - 29.2.12 was upgraded to a delux suite with kitchenette and living room, all I can say is AMAZING from start to finish, not one compliant about anything all the reviews on here are correct, the breakfast was very fresh and plentyful with lots of seating space, yes they do have plastic cutlery and paper plates but not a problem in our eyes.
Location great near everything and also subways at the end of the roads.
Am planning on coming back here as soon as possible.
