If you can handle the insane crowds, the excessive waits and the high prices you will be rewarded with some really good food and an interesting culinary experience. Rather than wait 1-2 hours for a table at one of the sit-down restaurants my friend and I grabbed a stand-up table in the middle of the food market (we actually shared the table with another diner) and proceeded to order a charcuterie and cheese plate, fresh mozzarella and tomato, oysters and, of course, some nice Italian red wine to wash it all down. The food was all excellent and so was the wine. And, standing and eating in the midst of this bustling and energetic gourmet Italian market was fun. After snacking downstairs we went to the rooftop bar and restaurant to enjoy some Italian beers on a beautiful NY summer night. Overall, this was an interesting and delicious experience!
