We went to The Murder at the Met Scavenger Hunt with our two kids. The only disappointment was the incompetent staff at the Met's coat check. Otherwise the actual scavenger hunt was really well put together and very clever. Even though we didn't win, we had a great time and look forward to doing it again.

My family and I (adults) did a Watson Adventures Scavenger Hunt at the Cloisters Museum in the Bronx this past weekend for my 61 year old mother's birthday. We all had an amazing time! We were a group of 6 (the maximum) which was fine, since we all worked very well together. If you have never been to the Cloisters, I would highly recommend it - on a beautiful day! There are some outdoor areas and the park surrounding the museum is beautiful with an adequate amount of benches to sit and a walkway/bike path, overlooking the Hudson & beautiful foliage. The museum itself is very small so we were a little leery about having 2.5 hours for the hunt, however, we still needed some time at the end to finish answering all of the clues!! just the right amount of clues and difficulty level.

What you can expect from this experience: you arrive at the museum (place of the hunt) and meet up with your host, wearing a burgundy Watson's Adventures hat. You are given waivers for each player to sign and then you are given a packet of information for the hunt. There were over 30 clues to solve/find in the museum. There are riddles, information you find in the placards, details to look for in pictures, statues to find, etc. You don't bring back actual items, but the answers to the questions. Each correct answer is a point. Whoever has the most points at the end, wins!

The positives: Every group starts at a different number so there is no overlap of groups and people aren't finding clues at the same place and same time (no cheating!). You are given a time to meet up at the end and deducted points for being late, which ensures everyone gets back at a reasonable time. Just enough time to solve all of the clues and sufficiently difficult. Gets you to see the museum and artifacts/relics in a different way, different than you would have just visiting the museum.

My only negative about this experience is if you have too large of a group or 1 or 2 "bossy" teammates, it can get intense and some players may feel left out. If there are players that are quicker at finding clues than others, the slower players may feel like they didn't get a chance to contribute. Make sure you go with a group of people that works well together and doesn't "take over".

I would highly recommend this experience, even if it's at a place you've been to a million times before! You will definitely see the space in a different light and maybe see things you never noticed before. I would not recommend going with kids - except for the kid hunts - the clues are fairly challenging.

This was a team building exercise we brook up into two groups (3 and 4 people). At first I was skeptical about the experience, we ended up having a lot of fun. I would definitely do it again. Our instructor Ari was great.

I really wanted to like this, but basically its just hustling around the museum and looking at the art to find clues. Sounds fun enough, except that they structure it so that you are constantly walking back and forth, retracing your steps throughout the museum.

So there is a lot of unnecessary walking, and some of the questions where you are "hunting" for the answers are not very clever.

They need to start everyone at a different question number so its not a mass of humanity slogging through the museum, but if you aren't starting at question 1, then its more difficult to solve the puzzle (and I did solve it).

I much preferred Museum Hack, which was very funny, informative, and you weren't left to fend for yourselves.

We've done a few of their tours in New York City and Washington, D.C. They provide a fun and unique way to see museums and other points of interest (including ones you've visited before!). The scavenger hunts are well-organized and structured.
