Good luck trying to find a parking valet or bellman accessible. Check in is on 2nd floor and understaffed. Elevators are so slow and ridiculously crowed with people and luggage. Not at all what you would expect at a Doubletree. Find a different hotel.

Thank you for staying with us and for reviewing your experience. We appreciate your comments as they help direct us to the areas where we can improve. It is unusual for a bellman and valet to not be accessible to our guest. I am so sorry for this inconvenience. We never intend to disappoint and I have shared your comments with our staff to be sure we are always available to our guests. Thanks again for staying with us. We hope you reconsider and visit us again soon.

Let me start by saying that we chose this hotel because of proximity to my wife's office and price. On line the hotel looked great so we had hope. When we checked in Saturday we were greeted by an energetic and friendly gentleman at the front desk who presented us with two bottles of water and two warm chocolate chip cookies. These were the high points. When I inquired about an upgrade we told that the hotel was sold out and no upgrade was available, even though I am Hilton Gold. As a consolation I was told that WiFi was free. Like, WOW. In place of points we opted for coupons for a complimentary breakfast buffet. So we took our key and headed to the elevators for the trip up to our 34th floor room. What felt like an endless wait the elevator finally arrived. The room was clean and well appointed but compact even by NYC standards. The bathroom could not be smaller and had no place for a toiletries bag, good thing the bed was in easy reach. The bed was comfortable but the TV was small. Breakfast in the morning was served in a restaurant on street level. The food was ok but the layout of the buffet was a bit weird and the staff was running around like it was their first breakfast service ever. After our initial greeting at check-in it appeared that the hotel staff was overwhelmed and poorly directed/managed (we are both managers so we notice these things). We were glad we were on a high floor (don't expect amazing views) because people on lower floors could not get on the elevators because of crowding (think Lexington Avenue line during morning rush hour) . Oh, and did I mention the elevators are slow? Plan ahead and give yourself an extra 5-10 minutes to get down stairs (or you can use the stairs that give you access for all floors). Would we stay here again? Probably not unless it was amazingly cheap or we were comped.

Room tip: Go for a high floor

Hotel would be fine, but it is impossible during peak hours to get an elevator in under 15 minutes. P There is a long line, and people on lower floors often resort to walking down rather than deal with the excessive waiting. Also issues with getting hot water on higher floors.

I stood 2 Nights at the hotel, while NYC had to welcome the UN general assembly.... prices for those times jump up tremendously: for my tiny little room a had to pay more that 250 USD. But I could have booked the Waldorf for 705 USD/night... I loved the room 3808 with "city view"; this was a view to Hudson Bay between much higher rising buildings. Funny to see the hotel in the mirror of a building next to it! Coffee equipment is there bathroom is clean and perfect.
I like to point out that the hotel
Is about 50 meters from the Whitehall metro station which gives access to the "R - train", and other stations like ferry station. You are 20 Minutes away from w everything!!! Great place! Hope the prices will be a bit cheaper when there is no UN convention... recommend the place!

Fine, comfortable hotel way downtown. Elevators are slow, it's a tall building with just three elevators, but other than that, fine. Nice view from the higher floors. Dead Rabbit bar nearby. Blah, blah, blah, getting up to the 200 character minimum that this silly site requires. Is this enough?
