DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel New York City - Financial District

Overall positive experience. The hotel is conveniently located in the financial district. The room was decently sized and decorated. Room service was quick, friendly and food was hot and delicious. The bathroom was small but functional.

Room Tip: Elevators are slow so try to stay on lower level.

We stayed in this hotel for a long week end. It was very conveniently located, not in a hotspot but with several subway stations very near.
The breakfast is very good, the staff amicable and the room is very nice and cosy.
The bed is huge and comfy, we shut the AC off and it was perfect.
Only downsides would be the 3 elevators for 40 something floors (sometimes the wait is so long that you just go down with the stairs), also they tend to have big groups of tourists and the breakfast hall is just too small, one morning there was a queue from the elevators!
And last thing the windows are not soundproofed (it seems and you can hear people screaming in the streets at night.

But overall quite a good experience and for the price in Manhattan I would definitely go again!

Room Tip: The higher the floor the better

Should have known when I got the room for 180. Everywhere else was 280. Hotel is located in the heart of FiDi, less than a 5 min walk to Wall St.

Small lobby. Elevators are a headache, takes forever. Floor corridors are tiny. But the rooms...matchbox. Very very small. There is no way you can keep 2 pieces of luggage in the room. There is less than 12 inches between the bed and the TV stand. Be careful when you walk. Tiny bathroom. My buddy is a bit big in size and was in another room. He had a hard time fitting in the shower area.

If its just 1 person then the price maybe worth the small size. If there are 2 of you, forget it and find another hotel.

Between 3 and 4 stars. The rooms are clean and are spacious by NYC standards. However, the elevator situation was a bit frustrating- each time I used it, I had to wait quite a while. I'm not sure if it's because the hotel has so many floors, or if each elevator was really tiny. The hotel is just a half block from the R subway- a definite perk. The area around the hotel isn't the greatest, but it was sufficient for my trip.

Rooms were clean, comfortable-and quiet. Staff was exceptionally helpful and pleasant-from the desk staff to the doormen. Since the consierge was not available during the hours we spent at the hotel, the staff offered to assist us in planning off hours activities and sight-seeing. Seemed pricey to me but apparently is a good value for Manhatten.

Most qualtiy NYC hotels are well above the $300 price. I don't know many people who spend a lot of time in the hotel room when visiting the city so the $269 price was attractive. Located in the financial district near the Staten Island Ferry stop, I was very pleased with the experience. Rooms were small but clean and updated. View of the city and the new WTC building was nice. The floors are very small with few rooms on each floor so there was no noise. Staff was friendly and accomodating. Bellman went out of his way to get me a cab on Saturday evening.

Now the few issues, When you arrive the front desk is on the 2nd floor. Elevators are slow and small as is the front desk area. The bathrooms are small also with limited shelf space for toiletries. Our bathroom door did not close properly so if you were there with a guest, anytime someone went to the bathroom the light would shine on the bed.

Very pricy breakfast menu but sufficient options were available. I'm not sure why bacon, eggs, toast and potatoes cost so much in a hotel (not just here). Breakfast for 2 would have cost about $50.

And the buttons on the elevator were confusing. With 44 floors and the buttons listed horizontally its very confusing when use to them being h vertical.

No ATM available on the premisis.

Room Tip: Higher floors give you a better view of the new tower.

In town on business in the lower Manhattan area. Hotel was clean, staff was friendly and location was very good. Bed was small but comfy, and coffee pot didn't work after several attempts. Thank goodness several options for a morning latte near by. Room service was prompt, food better than expected. And the Concerige was awesome and full of great recommendations of where to go in the area.
