“A pleasant surprise”
Reviewed September 29, 2012

We stayed one night on business and were given a lovely efficiently proportioned room on the 42nd floor. Our view included the new One World Trade Center under construction. The room was contemporary and very clean. The location was most convenient for business. Anthony at the front desk, an extraordinarily helpful and knowledgeable gentleman, recommended dinner at the Italian restaurant Ancora, essentially across the street, and this was superb. We would be happy to stay here again!

Room Tip: Higher floor rooms may have great views of the World Trade Center

This hotel was quite convenient for my purposes. More than that, the staff was very friendly and helpful, the view was wonderful, the room, although small (hey, It's New York) did not feel claustrophobic, like other hotels. The room was very quite, and nicely appointed. The bed was very comfortable, and pillows were much better than I'd expect at a hotel.
Now, the real surprise was the restaurant. This is the first time that I have ever felt that the restaurant was reasonable, in all aspects. The selection was good, the prices were more than fair, and the service and staff were excellent.
Overall, I would have to say that this was one of the best hotel experiences that I have in New York City. I highly recommend this hotel, and will certainly stay here, next time I have to stay in the financial district.

Room Tip: ask for a room away from the elevators, or you'll right in front of them

Visited with partner during early September. US Open + NY Fashion Night Out + Labour Day meant ridiculously high prices for all central properties thus decided to stay at the Financial District despite being chiefly on a pleasure trip. Was not disappointed. Very close to the South Ferry point where one can take the free ferry to Staten Island with small but adequate views of Ellis Island( Statue of Liberty).

The Hotel is chiefly a tall building with the reception at the Second Floor. Decent rooms, and the quality that can be expected from a Doubletree property. There is an excellent breakfast joint right opposite if the same is not a part of your room package. Opens at 6 and serves excellent Muffins, Sandwiches, French Toasts, Pan Cakes et al. Quite budgeted. Eating options around include plenty of places just a few meters away and one would find multiple subway connections to lead you anywhere in New York provided travelling in subways is your thing.

TIP: The closest subways do not have escalators. Find out which stations provide a step free access before hand if you have plenty of luggage. I still don't know else would have mentioned here. If you have far too much luggage, I suggest a cab from the airport. I believe it costs about $ 40-50.

I would stay here again.

Room Tip: As long as you are on a higher floor, which about 70% of guests will be, traffic sounds will not be...

I was at this hotel for a few nights for business. The lobby and the restaurant was pretty low key, almost subdued. But for my business purpose, it was a convenient location to go between Battery Park and Water Street. I checked in very in the morning and they had my room ready. In addition, it was exciting to get the usual Doubletree welcome cookie for breakfast.

I have stayed at this hotel twice and have had a great stay both times. Rooms were clean and ample in size. I was particularly impressed with the staff. Luisa, who worked at the front desk, made me feel at home when I checked into the hotel. Overall a great hotel in the financial district.

I thought this was a good value. The rooms were of respectable size and clean. My room was on the 41st floor with a nice view of Freedom Towers. The reception desk in on the second floor which normally is not an issue. But there are only 3 elevators and the wait time can be a bit much.

Stone street can be a bit difficult to get to unless you're driving down Broadway, but there is a parking garage directly accross the street from the hotel (don't forget to get your ticket stamped by the hotel to get your discount of $38 for 24 hrs). There are several metro stops near by and of course the financial district is all within easy walking distance.

Room Tip: Ask for a room above the 30th floor for a good view.

My wife and I enjoyed a Saturday Night in NYC at the Doubletree. The staff were all great, from the friendly doorman to the very helpful concierge. He was able to book us for a tour of the 9/11 Memorial on Sunday morning at 10:00. It was an emotional visit for us, but so very impressive and beautiful. The one downside to the hotel is the long walk to the nearest Subway stop, but it is convenient for a visit to the South Street Seaport where we grabbed a Circleline Tour Boat. Also, check out the High Line park for a beautiful walk along the West Side from 23rd Strret to 14th Street (and beyond).
