“LOUD even for NYC”
Reviewed August 15, 2013

This hotel is new and very clean, but the windows are thin because the noise from the street was unbearable. All night long the sounds of sirens and waking to the morning with jackhammers due to construction on the street made the stay below par. I stay in NYC hotels quite frequently, but the was noisy even by NYC standards. The hotel could benefit from adding window insulation on the rooms that face the street. If you are staying here, request a room that is NOT facing Varick St. Otherwise the hotel is up to CM standards and the basic services were always there.

Room Tip: Don't book a room that is facing Varick St. as these are very noisy with no window soundproofing...

Stayed here for a weekend of fun in NY.

Room was clean, and everything was in good working order.

It is great to stay away from midtown---less jarring and crowded.

Hotel is steps away from the subway, and it is walking distance from restaurants and entertainment.

And the staff is friendly and makes great recommendations for places to eat breakfast and to buy stuff you forgot to bring.

Not a 5 star hotel. But perfect for a good place to sleep in Manhattan.

It is pretty nice for a Courtyard hotel. I stayed here for the MLB All-Star game and the staff was great. They were not the staff of a 5 star hotel, but they were friendly, funny and accommodating and what more can you ask for.
The rooms were of average size for New york and clean.
There is a Starbucks/bar in the lobby.
The location is close to the west side walkway and walking distance to the Soho shops and restaurants if you are into the hipster scene.

Stayed here in June and have nothing but good things to say about this hotel .
From the perfect location to SOHO and subway station at the corner to get to TS in less then 8 minutes.
Friendly staff and sure the rooms arent huge but come on who stays in their room while visiting NYC. It looks nice and modern and did the job for me
I would definetely go back to this Marriott hotel

We stayed at the end of our family holiday to the US. We had stayed on our first visit at the Hyatt Regency in New Jersey and the standards there were set quite high. However for our last night in the US in NYC we decided to stay in Manhattan, closer to the action!

Firstly the location is great for families and would be great for singles and couples as well. There's loads of bars, restaurants, coffee shops and eateries in the surrounding area. It's right on the subway as well.

I know that room sizes tend to be on the smaller side in Manhattan, a problem in many cities where space is at a premium. But we had a family room - 2 double beds and frankly if we wanted to move round from one side of the room or the other (to get to the bathroom?) then everyone else had to sit on the bed to give space to pass. Thankfully we were only there for one night and didn't have to spend much time in the hotel.

I appreciate that this is a Courtyard - not a full service Marriott. But I don't even think it should be a Courtyard brand - everything from the room sizes, reception size, coffee shop etc is compromised because of the size. If you're used to staying in Courtyards I think you'll be disappointed, it should be rebranded something that recognises it's a low service City hotel.

We paid $280 plus taxes for the room. This was poor value for the lack of amenities in the hotel and pokey little room - even allowing for Manhattan prices!

I'm not going to write anymore reviews for this hotel but I am sure going to stay there again and again and again. There's nothing more to say other than book your next NYC trip through the Courtyard in Soho. Their customer service is beyond satisfactory. It's exceptional ! Their entire staff goes above and beyond the normal standards of your typical chain hotel. These people really care about you as a guest in making sure you have everything you need for your stay. When is the last time you had a nice engaging talk with a hotel maid or hotel maintenance person? Most I've been to either just smile and move on or don't acknowledge you at all. Not here. They ask how are you doing and what NYC sites you are planning to see. The front desk staff is just as pleasant and helpful. Just geniuine friendly. The rooms are so clean, so quiet, and so comfortable. It's close to the Red 1 subway line and within walking distance of many really cool sections of the city. Take my advice and stay here.

This hotel was acceptable; basic and serviceable accomodations. Overall it was clean, but the carpet was stained and the bathroom tile needed re-grouting. Disappointing that the bar was not open in the afternoon and our room was not ready for an early check-in as requested. Close proximity to the #1 subway stations was excellent.

Room Tip: Double - double is the only two-bed option.
