Description: Zengo is a sophisticated blend of Latin-Asian styles and flavors. Chef Richard Sandoval, whose accolades include Bon Appétit Restaurateur of the Year and Mexico’s Toque d’Oro, artfully spins Latin-Asian ingredients into beautifully balanced dishes. Light preparations and tasting portions invite sampling and sharing a variety of items. To complement the cuisine, Zengo offers one of the largest collections of tequila and agave-based spirits in the United States. Guests may sample over 400 varieties in the downstairs Tequila Library. Zengo also boasts an extensive list of Latin wines and Japanese sakes, which are best enjoyed at the mezzanine level Wine & Sake Bar. The cocktail menu showcases Latin-Asian classics made with fine spirits and fresh, hand-muddled fruits.

“Food should be interesting and taste great. It is here.”
Reviewed June 27, 2012

Nice trendy looking space even if the bar is a little small. The food is really great...reminds you of a Jose Andres restaurant; small plates, unique combinations, and an upbeat vibe. I've eaten at Isla (another Sandoval restaurant) and this is way better. The portions are very generous for "small" plates and the presentations are very attractive. Had the Mahi-Mahi ceviche; it was excellent and no little cocktail glass--large serving on a plate with plenty of tostadas to go along. The duck confit tacos are unusual and one of the tastiest dishes I've had in a while. Can be a little messy using daikon radishes as taco shells. Very highly recommended as was the Spanish flatbread with mushrooms. Toss in some interesting cocktails and many, many tequila choices (suggest Riazul anejo). Had a rose garnacha...was bright red, not pale, but went well a a really diverse group of dishes. The whole experience was a winner in every way.

“Lively and Great Menu”
Reviewed June 12, 2012

Interesting large space with a lively atmosphere and a very good menu - many options with the fusion of the Latin American and Asian foods. Tuna and duck tacos are good and I always enjoy the letttuce wraps and flatbreads. The edamame has very good flavoring. Portions are tapas size small so it is a good place to go with a group and share a variety of things. Fun place to go for drinks and nibble after work as well.

“Wonderful”
Reviewed May 29, 2012

We began downstars at their Tequila Library which is not to be missed, Courtney the librarian is incredibly knowledgeable, not to mention easy on the eyes. After a couple of wonderful hand-shaken margaritas we went upstairs to the main floor for dinner. Richard Sandoval's menu does not disappoint, the arepas, tuna tacos and duck confit tacos are amazing. This is a great restaurant for clients, friends or both.

“Off the wall menu - great night out”
Reviewed May 14, 2012

We came here on Cinco de Mayo having failed miserably to get a reservation at a traditional Mexican restaurant. The space and design of the restaurant is lovely - we were seated in a booth to the side, and my only real complaint is that every time the gentleman on the other side of my banquette seat moved, so did I. Doubtless he felt the same way about me.

The menu bears no resemblance to anything you will have ever seen - a sort of pan-Asian with Mexican - but for us it worked. We opted to eat several small dishes and share - from Asian tacos to flatbreads to dumplings. No dish could be labelled Thai, Chinese or Japanese - there were elements from all over Asia with signature Mexican flavours like lime, avocado and of course chili. If you are a purist, you won't like this at all. We found it interesting and tasty. Irritatingly most of the dishes had three or five pieces so negotiations had to be done, but it all tasted very good.

Service was efficient and friendly - we opted to drink tequila because of the date. On reflection, this wasn't a great idea - a white wine would have worked better with what we were eating, but after a couple of margaritas in a bar beforehand, judgment became clouded.

Next time, I will go with a larger party so that we can share more dishes.
