“Visit here first for your kids souvenirs!”

After buying key chains and trinkets from the other NYC stores, Chinatown has all the same items for half as much. There wasn't as much culure as I was expecting, but still a very unique experience nonetheless. Walk right down the street to Little Italy.

“Be prepared to be harrased”

People in here are ready to almost grab you to try to sell you something. They get right in your face. The problem is, the places they sell these "Designer" bags, is in back warehouses. I wasn't willing to go into a back alley in that area. Very crowded.

“an absolute dump”

we went for a walk around china town. there isnt really anything specific to visit as a tourist but we thought it might be nice to go and soak up the culture. its very busy and canal street is just full of men trying to sell you fake rolexs etc.its was dirty, and the only time in nyc that i felt the need to hold tight to my bag...you need to walk through part of it from subway top get to little italy which is lovely for food and a drink.

“Not what it used to be.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 10, 2013

Chinatown is still a fun place to visit if you want to get a deal on purses, watches, or some shirts to take home. Sadly, all of the 'haggle' shops are no longer run by Chinese. We first noticed the perfume sellers a few years back were not Chinese, then it was the watch people, then the purses. It has finally progressed to most of the shops not being Chinese at all. The even sadder part is the new sect of people running the stores do not haggle quite as friendly as the Chinese did and they are a bit more rude. I actually was asked 'why you so cheap' by one of the perfume sellers after haggling on a price! Many of the perfumes you can actually get on Amazon cheaper now, so be sure to know your prices before you go. Could not even find a fake rolex this past weekend. So, as I started this out, there are still some bargains in Chinatown, but much of the charm of the Chinese has been lost.
