The street vendors offer many different kinds of bargains than you can get int he suburbs. Also, you can't passup the Mom and Pop restaurants that serve homecooked Chinese food.

Canal Street is crazy. Don't let the hubbub make you lose your bearings. People will walk up to you whispering "Rolex" or maybe chanting "Gucci, Gucci! Gucci " in what can seem like a threatening staccato. Ignore them. Realize that much of the wares here are complete junk. However, if you must purchase some trinket, be sure to haggle over the price. It's expected.

Once you've had your fill of the stalls on Canal Street, be sure to get some bubble tea and goodies from a Chinese bakery. Amazing.

The Tenement Museum isn't too far from Chinatown, and it's a good take if you're in the area.

My husband and I had a great time in Chinatown. There was so much to do, great food and exciting entertainment.

I buy all of my pocket books, sunglasses & bags in Chinatown. I am not willing to pay more than $10 for a nice pair of sunglasses that I am only going to sit on or lose. It's also a great place to buy cute things for really reasonable prices, they have the best scarves & hats which make wonderful gifts for adults and cheap jewelry for kids. What isn't made in China these days? I've seen so many people make the mistake of paying the asking price here, you can always talk them down!
There are so many great places to eat! I love their steamed pork dumplings.

We went there because everyone tells you about Chinatown but it was a waste of time. There is so much haggling going on and the place is dirty.
