It was our last morning in NYC...our quests for good restaurants to try had been more misses than hits on this trip. We were making a quick trip down to the Canal and Spring St. areas for some last minute shopping and were looking for a place to eat breakfast and were at the point of just hitting a McDonalds or Dunkin Donuts when we saw this place and decided to give it a chance.
It turned out to be the best all around food experience of our 5 day visit to NYC.
This restaurant is very quaint and was quiet on a Sunday morning. We were invited to sit where ever we waited…we chose to sit by the big open window next to the sidewalk.
The menu was a lot of standard breakfast fare but with a French twist. I ordered the omelette with goat cheese and spinach and my partner ordered the pancakes with fruit and a side of scrambled eggs.
The service was quick, efficient, friendly and never intrusive at all.
The food was EXCELLENT!! My omelet was filled with a deliciously cream goat cheese and spinach that was cooked just as perfectly as the eggs were. It came with a side of mixed greens with a light vinaigrette that was a perfect compliment.
My partner, who LOVES pancakes but can be critical of them…rated these pancakes among the
best he’s ever had. I helped myself to the side of fruit on his plate and couldn’t believe how fresh it was.
And the really terrific thing about this place…is that it was least expensive place we ate at during our entire trip! $16.00 for both of us.
Our next to NYC…we will make a point out of having several, if not ALL, of our breakfasts there…and will definitely try lunch there as well.
