“Perfect Location, helpful friendly staff”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 6, 2013

We stayed at Cassa for our anniversary and as a result were kindly upgraded on arrival to a better larger room (big for New York, though as should be the case in New York were hardly there anyway). The lobby area and room were clean and modern and the staff (from cleaners to doormen to lobby staff) were all friendly and courteous. The location is perfect for exploring Manhattan, located just off 6th Avenue in midtown, with Times Square a couple of blocks away. WiFi is free on the 10th floor terrace but chargeable in the room (the only downside as far as I was concerned). Just a note on the lotions/bath gels in the bathroom as commented on elsewhere - they are good quality - my wife and I used them all week - if in doubt though take your own!

Room Tip: 22nd floor south facing was very quiet - at the back of the building. We also mentioned it was our a...

Thank you very much for the wonderful review. We just introduced the Neil George products a few weeks ago to rave reviews. The scent has a hint of citrus/grapefruit. I think it was a nice upgarde from the previous product. I am proud to share your review with my team in the next meeting!
Please come see us again soon!

I stayed at Cassa with my wife for a couple of days in a Deluxe Queen bedroom.

THE GOOD:
1- Location is great if you want to be in central Manhattan. Close to Times Square but away enough to be quiet, and also super close to 5th ave.
2 - Staff is very kind and attentive.
3 - Room is clean and modern. Bathroom is comfortable and shower is perfect.

NOT SO GOOD:
1 - Room lighting!!! I understand the cosy intention but at night the room was really dark with the indirect lights only. Older people would have problems.
2 - Room is quite small but for NY it is ok.
3 - WiFi and delivery packages are charged.

Room Tip: The Standard room has a regular double bed, not a queen bed. Watchout.

Thank you for your feedback, both the good and the bad.

As you stated you were in the Deluxe Queen. For the record any of our Queen Rooms, they are on the smaller side, ideal for shorter stays and single travelers. I would not recomend this for two large adults with lots of luggage on long stays. This category is however the best priced and is very competitive with the area hotels.

We are planning a refresh of the rooms in a few months and are looking to upgrade the lamps in the rooms to address the lighting issues.

Please let us know when are coming back next time so we can make sure you are in one of the King rooms...!!

First impression/Atmosphere:
This hotel provided me with a very ambient, urban and relaxing feeling. I love the music it played! The hotel smelled very nice as well. When we first walked in the hotel staff greet us and were all very helpful. Our flight had arrived earlier than expected and were hoping to do an early check in and without hesitation, "Tiffany," the receptionist at the desk advised us that she was able to check us in prior to the original 3:00pm check in time. It was great!

Room:
Once we got into our room, we noticed that the room was a little small but we were still very happy with it. It was clean and there seemed to be a very light fragrance in the room but it smelled nice. In the bathroom, it was very clean as well. Everything was fully stocked and neatly organized. Inside the shower, there was two shower heads. As for the bed, it was very comfortable and the linens were clean. There is also a small closest and a safe as well. Located on the wall in front of the bed, there is large flat screen TV. The lighting in the room was rather dim but it didn't brother us too much.

Location:
The location was great! Located in Midtown NYC and was only a few minute walk out to Times Square and Theater District.

Amenities:
There is a gym but we did not get to use it because we were constantly on the go. On the 10th floor, it is where you can get some breakfast however, it is not complimentary. The terrace is also on the 10th floor and it wasn't quite open as it is still very cold out. As well, free Wifi "Cassa lounge" is also located on the 10th floor. There is a password required for it but all we did was just ask the reception for it. If you were located close to the 10th floor, you could be able to pick up the signal but as we were on the 23rd, we were unable.

Overall, we both liked this hotel and I do recommend this hotel as this hotel has superb service and has a great location.

We decided staying on a boutique Hotel so we could enjoy a different kind of service/room style. As we get there we got a room that was so small, so small that we couldn't even open our luggage. We kindly asked the reception to switch to a new, bigger room. The receptionist showed us a bigger room and told us that we had to wait for a day so we could change it. Next day, they moved our luggages during the afternoon and as we got back at night, we figured out that they moved us to a diferent room than the one they had shown us and the room was a little bit larger, but still tiny. We complained at the front desk again and they initially tried to make us accept that room, but we didn't. They told us that the hotel was full and that we had to wait another night to change. We accepted, against our will. The second room had the sheet and blanket full of stains of I don't know what. Next day, they moved us to a nice bigger and descent room. The front desk manager told us that the boutique hotels are like that: one room is different from another. I, as an architect and interior designer, told the manager that I had designed a boutique hotel in Brasil and I never had such a small room in my life. My advice to everyone that pretends to go to NY is to check room sizes before, cause normally people spend much time shopping in this city and those smaller rooms are awful for more then one luggage. We had four luggages. One of then we had to be open in the bathroom. Bathroom design were great, but the shower area didn't have a place to put shampoos and soaps. We had to put it on the floor. The shower makes big noises when you switch to a smaller shower. The second room stayed a while with no water as we switched from the main shower to the small one. Overall, as we changed our room, we loved the hotel. They were very kindly not to charge us for the bigger rooms.

Thank you very much for your feedback. I am sorry that you were not satisfied with the room that you had booked originally nor the new room. I will attest that most hotels in Times Square are about the smae size or smaller than ours. It goes with the neighborhood unfortunately. As I was not involved with the construction of the hote as I wish I was, I would have made some modifications as well. But as we have it today we are doing a great job with what we have and have many loyal guests. Again I am sorry that we disappointed you and hope that you stay with us again, but would suggest you reserve our Jr Suite Category or The One Bedroom Cassa Suite as they sould more like what you were expecting.

Amazing location 3 mins walk to time square, and all that NYC has to offer.

Helpful & friendly staff, from the moment we checked in. My lovely boyfriend emailed the staff prior to our stay asking them to make our stay extra special they provided a personal note and a bottle of wine in the room which was a lovely surprise.

Rooms are of a standard size and bathroom was nice with a make up table and stool. Vey comfy bed and no noise could be heard from outside. Which was good after long busy days in the big apple. There was a couple of marks on the bathroom wall but overall clean and a very pleasant stay.

We left a note for the maids to provide a few more toiletries and they provided plenty with no fuss.

Would have been nice to have free wifi access in the rooms but it is provided free of charge in the lounge. You can buy drink, food or just use the wifi.

May also be a British thing but a kettle in the room would have been great! You do have an umbrella in the room which worked out well with the snow.

We used the hotels car to get us to the airport, it was slightly more expensive then a cab but was sorted efficiently and we pre-booked to guarantee a car in rush hour in areas of trying to flag down a can. The car made life easier and glad we opted for this option.

Have recommended this hotel already to friends and when we return we will be checking into the Cassa.

Clean small rooms in a great location. There was really nothing special about the room and I was not crazy about the dark color hallways - but the room was clean and in good condition. Front desk staff was pleasant and helpful.

This is a small modern boutique hotel, very well located, near Times Square and most of Brodway shows, in a walking distance. Near too from Grand Central, Moma and Rockfeller center. The room was confortable and cozi, but very small and we ( me and my husband) had no space for two luggages. Despite it, there was everything we needed , even a wine opener. The bathroom was very clean but I didnt like the smell of amenities. The staff was very helpful and kept some packages we'd bought online and had asked to deliver at the hotel. This service was charged in normal prices!
The guest can use free wifi at thu lounge on 10th floor. The room wifi is charged but the speed is perfect! I really recomend the hotel!

Room Tip: If you need space, ask for a big room
