“SD26 (Slightly Disappointing)”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 22, 2013

This is a smart modern restaurant north of Madison Square. Location is great. If you want to be sure that your business colleagues are impressed by the surroundings and the attentive staff, SD26 will not let you down.

However, if you want good food, which is what you should expect for the price, don't bother. All the slick service and flashy decor does not make up for the expensive mediocrity served up on the plate.

Should go back to basics. Sort out the food, then go for profit.

“Slightly Disappointed”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 28, 2013

I wanted this place to be great. I brought my mother here for her birthday while we were visiting NYC. It was recommended by the concierge as a good restaurant close to our hotel. In its defense, there was a private party taking up the dining room of the restaurant, which we knew ahead of time. We were seated in the lounge, which was loud and not very comfortable. The pasta dishes were good. That's the important part, right? The waiter was harried and inattentive. I don't really remember the dessert, but I remember the coffee because it was awful. Overall I would have to say we were disappointed.

“Check the menu first”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 25, 2013

I Lund the menu pretty unappetizing. Maybe too exotic or me. I had an appetizer that was one dumpling that oozed egg yolk out of it. It was not pleasant.

“It used to be better!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 16, 2013

It is still a unique space, huge. Big entrance and bar section followed by a very large pleasant main dining room. The food is still ok but not the best anymore: Prosciutto and other cold cuts carelessly arranged on a plate, Risotto without much flavor, tomato sauce without much taste, but a roast was well done. The espresso was the best I had in a while. The service was lackadaisical: Selecting wine from the iPad is kind of awkward and one should not have to wave arms to get a second bottle! The check was presented without us having asked for it!

“Good”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 15, 2013

Went to this restaurant suggested by the hotel not realizing it was a little fancier and more expensive than what we were planning on spending. I had red snapper and a glass of red wine suggested by waitress. Wine was ok and the red snapper was delicious. My spouse got pasta fagioli soup and a mixed drink. Soup was very good also with a lit twist it had oysters in it.
