Initially we were a little nervous having not ridden a bike in years! However, the staff were great and explained how everything worked and after a short safety talk we were off. We took the 2 hour guided tour with Carla who was great and full of knowledge. We had 8 stops at various locations around the park and it was only by cycling round you realise the sheer size of Central Park. So glad we booked the cycle tour as we learned a lot about its history and the surrounding areas from Carla and wouldn’t have seen nearly as much as we did had we been on foot. One thing, you need to leave photo ID in shop while on tour, so take something you don’t mind leaving. Great tour, highly recommend, thanks Carla!

We rented from the shop on W. 56th St., and this was a great location, a three minute ride to the park. Huge selection of bikes for all sizes. We rented three (non-electric) bikes and they worked perfectly! Mine had a wider seat which means a comfier ride. They got us in and on our way in a matter of minutes for two hours of fantastic fun riding through Central Park!

The two men who were giving us the bikes should not work with customers. Very dismissive and short. We had a Mt. Vernon tour on the bike from Alexandria and back on the boat to Washington DC.
The tour suppose to start at 9 but the second guy just brought the bikes at 9 am then he needed to unload it. By the time we started our tour it was way past 9. On the hot day it would be nice to start earlier. We had 5 children in two parties. They had no choices of bikes for them and one was a bit small and the sit was very hard so my daughter was not comfortable biking.
We never had such a poor choice before and we rented bikes in London, Paris, Amsterdam.
Also it should be a map given to the group with the detailed map of the whole tour so everything would be clear. It was said look for the Warf as we get there. We had to ask people at mount Vernon about it. It turned out the Warf is on the premises of the Estate at the very end. You can see it on the map of the estate you can get on the Estate. Be Aware that the Estate pass you get includes the tour of the grounds and not the House. You have to book it in advance and it is timed. I found it to be the best part of the tour and we lucked out to get it there but it was shortly before the boat supposed to leave so I am glad it worked out. Also you see on the site that the tour is until 7 pm but in fact you return back to DC around 3 pm. The only boat you can return on leaves the estate at 1:30 pm. You should be at the Warf at 1:15 pm. The estate is very big so we did not even scratch the surface. I would like to have at least two more hours. The idea is great but very poor execution. Bike trail is beautiful and boat ride is great also. This is not a guided tour at any time. You won't get any historic info from the tour company or on the boat.

Rented electric bikes to ride from Alexandria, Virginia to Mount Vernon. It was a beautiful ride along the Potomac, and the electric bikes were ideal because they allowed you to get exercise, but helped you up the hills! Enjoyed the tour at Mount Vernon. Butch and his dad William were wonderful! Would definitely do it again!!

Poor service, rude operator, old bike with bad gears and elongated brakes. Same or worse quality than the "capital share bikes". It is not worth paying that amount just to have them drop off your bike in Alexandria. It is better to rent a cheap bike and take it by bus or subway. Bad experience, not recommended.
