“Great location at a good price”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 16, 2013

Being recommended the guest suites we had quite some expectations when arriving. And all of the expectations were met, we had a great stay. We stayed at the top floor so there were no disturbing noises for us but instead we had to exercise daily due to the lack of elevator.
The main negative thing was the lack of cleaning. We stayed for five nights and couldn't see any signs of cleaning being done during the day.
But the great location and the standard of the room adds up to a positive stay and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this to someone.

Room Tip: The higher your room is the less you might be disturbed by other guests

We wanted a place to stay in a good location that did not cost the earth. This place was it. So much so we stayed here twice?!?! And we would stay again.

The only downside we found was no elevator to carry your cases down when you have over shopped!

The rest of what these had to offer did everything we needed it to. It was clean, good value for money, metro was a few blocks away, depending which line you wanted, in a good location for getting to all the attractions.
We got advise on both times we arrived when we asked where best to eat, drink, etc.. And the recommendations were spot on.

Take a look at the roof, the view is excellent.

Yes it has a Harley club underneath it, or next door, but you would not notice it and caused no concerns for us.

We stayed in the second older building east 3rd street, found the location to be good and the room well appointed and clean with the luxury of a washer / dryer was an added bonus. This building does not have an elevator and was very noisy at times so you need to be mindful of this however I would still recommend this to anyone wanting something to accommodate more people than a std hotel room. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

This hotel is super clean, great kitchen in room, very convenient location. We loved it! nice linen, good size for a NYC room as well. The staff are very friendly. We were there during the hurricane and the staff kept in good contact during the crisis.

I stayed there for 11 nights 1 week ago-thats early April 2013. We loved our stay there. I am so enthusiastic about it I really would recommend it to everyone. The appartments were lovely: clean, quiet-well you are in NYC but still you can find some peace, its a really quiet street-, nicely decorated, fully equipped. You feel like its your appartment in NYC. Everything is close to the appartment: subway station 2 blocks, whole foods store 3 blocks, the 1st and 2nd avenues are full of local shops, bar and restaurants to suit all tastes.
The location was really great for us. We were a group of 5 in our early 20s. The East Village is the place I would like to live in NYC at my age. It has all the right bars and clubs,Soho, Nolita and Lower East side are a 5min walk and offers you a wide range of restaurants and takeaways that you will adore. I am pretty confident I couldnt find a better place to stay.
At night the streets were full of New Yorkers going out for a drink, the atmosphere was delightful. We went for a movie in Sunshine Theater-btw we ate an awesome burger right next to the cinema-, its only 3 blocks far. Appart from that its quiet inexpensive in contradiction to the West Village where it's also very nice -more formal and elegant -but everything is pretty pricey.

If you plan to stay there: Go to DeRobertis for the tastiest new york cheesecake and to 7A diner for breakfast or brunch. The Emporio pizza right on the next block is really good although it looks mainstream. Its perfect for a late night craving.

The personell of SGS was very kind. They were very helpful and understanding. We really liked them especially Zach -he is such a nice person.

Absolutely go there!! I hope I will travel to NYC again in the future! I definetely would like to stay there again! I am 100% positive about it and would recommmend it to both families and groups of friends.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the second or 3rd floor, unless you want to exercise your legs- There is no elevat...

LOVE the Stanton Location!!! First off, Ill start by clarifying that this company has two locations and this review is for their Stanton St location.

My husband and I stayed there for 8 days when they first opened a couple years ago, and we r so excited that we will be staying there again in a few weeks!

We are super picky about hotels... we definitely arent snooty people but we are big believers that when we r on vacation we want to be comfortable. We usually stay in 5 star hotels, and I must say that this place is on par as far as cleanliness, space, and the MOST comfy bed!!! We were there in winter and after days of running around the city we honestly couldnt wait to get into their insanely comfy bed and rest!! The beds here are more comfortable than beds weve slept in at The Four Seasons and The Ritz Carlton.

Get one of the rooms with a patio... it's a really nice extra :)

All the staff here are extremely friendly and accommodating. The location, in my opinion, is perfect. I love the Lower East Side... its more neighborhoody than other areas in NY, great restaurants, great bars... and the location is quiet yet a block away from everything youd need/want to go to.

We were so bummed the last time we came to NY last year this location was totally booked... but we were not surprised, we knew it wouldnt be a secret for too long ;)

I highly recommend staying here!!! Better beds, rooms, service and location than hotels that are 3 times the price!!

Room Tip: Stay t the Stanton St location... Its a brand new elevator building in a fantastic location and some...

After relentlessly searching for accommodations I found this jam in NYC. There are no other words to describe the SGS. The rooms are spacious, the furniture a combination of modern and rustic put together to create harmony and comfort. The kitchen is fully equipped with beautiful stainless steel appliances that are both useful and quiet. The shower is heaven. Located in the Lower East Side, really close to SOHO, Chinatown, Little Italy and my Alma Matter NYU, we felt right at home. And the staff was courteous and kind. Our kids loved the apartment so much it was a fight to get them out and roaming around NYC. True it is was really cold out… We loved everything about the SGS. And look forward to being back many times more.

Room Tip: We are a family of 4, 2 adults and 2 kids and were very comfortable in the Raja suite, which offered...
