This was our second stay at the Andaz and once again, the hotel exceeded our expectations in every manner. The hotel has a great vibe to it... very chic, trendy, sophisticated, but not at all pretentious. The service is outstanding, with the staff tending to your every need.

From the mini bar treats to the evening wine, the Andaz does little things that most do not. This is not you big box chain hotel (eventhough it is a Hyatt property)... it is a trendy boutique hotel that has found a niche that we find very appealing.

We are Hyatt Diamond members and stay at Hyatt properties whenever possible. We have spent around 60 nights in hotels this year and this one by far impressed us the most.

The Andaz has a fantastic feel and excellent service. We had a loft on the ninth floor and couldn't have asked for more. The style of the room was great, the free (non-alcoholic) minibar, snacks and free wine in the lobby were nice extras as well.

The entrance is hard to find because of poor signage and the staff only handles the front door when they aren't already helping someone else. It would be nice to always have a doorman. For a long stay the absence of a dresser or drawers could be a downfall but this was all overshadowed by the excellent location in the heart of the city was great. Would rate this hotel between a Gand Hyatt and a Park Hyatt for less money than a Regency.

Also, to answer a few other reviews, we found our loft to be very bright with plenty of light. The tv has many features but if you just want to watch old school television you just have to press the channel up or down button.

I shall never look for another hotel in NYC again. Every expectation exceeded in every way. You have to experience to understand. Hands down, the best hotel in NYC.

This was our second trip to New York and much anticipated as we intended a longer (10 day) stay than our last flying visit. We started off in a very affordable hotel which was extremely noisy and a bit dated. By chance we came across Andaz when we stopped at the corner bar for a catch up with friends - what a stunning place with interior decoration like we had never seen in a hotel before. We suspected it would be well outside our price range but found the rooms to be very affordable for what they offered - very modern and effectively sound proof in one of the best locations in NY. But it just got n
Better and better - complimentary non alcoholic drinks from the mini bar, complementary drinks including superb wine in the guest arrival lounge and a check in prices which leftbus wondering why other hotels haven't figured it out. The hotel and it's staff and value were superb - to the point we have amended our US travel plans to go backmto andaz for a few more nights!

We recently stayed at the Andaz with our 3 children (aged 5, 3 and 9 months) over the NY Marathon weekend. We had a fantastic experience from beginning to end.
Though a relatively new hotel, the service was seamless. We were greeted on arrival by gracious, helpful staff who were particularly kind and attentive to our children. Check-in by our friendly "host" was quick and accompanied by a complimentary glass of wine. The hotel interior is smart and sophisticated, but most noticeably the atmosphere is friendly, efficient and relaxed. Our interconnecting rooms were spacious by NYC standards, with high ceilings, clean, simple and elegant furnishings and a great view of Fifth Ave. There was no discernible noise from the street either. An added bonus - complimentary wi-fi and mini-bar snacks and non-alcoholic drinks made the stay easy and uncomplicated, especially with children in tow.
The midtown location is great - right across the street from The New York Public Library. Bryant Park is a short walk away, as well as Times Square, Grand Central, the Empire State Building, and Fifth Ave shopping.
Our children were well looked after with cookies and treats and thrilled with the stay (not always the case in hotels). My husband was running in the marathon and the hotel was extremely accommodating with some of his requirements including a microwave in our room. We dined in the hotel both evenings - the food was fabulous (focused on local, organic produce) and arrived quickly to cater for our children when they were with us.
We will not hesitate to stay at Andaz or any others in the group again. While it was great for us as a family, I would highly recommend for an adult get-away!

Had a great stay at the Andaz 5th Avenue. The property definitely lived up to its promise with its central location and complimentary amenities.

The entrance to the Andaz is located just off of 5th Avenue, on 41st. It has discrete signage so you will have to provide directions to your cab driver. The hosts were very hospitable and provided us with efficient check-in. We were provided a room right away even though we arrived at 8 a.m.

We had a large twin room that was spacious and comfortable. As noted by previous reviews, there are no drawers, with only a small glass closet provided. I brought extra hangers and was able to make do by placing additional items on the sofa in the room.

The bathroom was large with two sinks and a great rain shower. However, the water pressure is a little off and I can't seem to every get the water temperature sustained at the right level. While its brilliantly designed, I question the functionality of certain features. For example, the toilet is separated partially from the sink and shower; however, there is no door to completely close off the area so that someone else could use the sinks while another is using the toilet. Another odd thing thing is the shades in the room. The shades did block out the light, but there is a small gap between the shades and the wall which allows light to come in and thereby, in my mind, defeats the purpose of having black-out shades.

There is a gym in the hotel and it's fairly small, but functional. The bar at night is quite busy and offers some great cocktails. The restaurant on the main floor serves decent breakfast, though you're better off grabbing something outside.

Internet is complimetary as are mini-bar items (with the exception of alcohol). Extra water, juice etc. can also be obtained right from the fridge in the library. There is a laptop in the library available for use as well, though there is an absence of a full business centre.

Generally, service was efficient and polite. Certain hosts were more helpful and friendly than others, as they went out of their way to provide directions and suggestions. However, some need a slight attitude adjustment - there are a couple of hosts who should be reminded that guests' requests may sound trivial (i.e. requesting for directions), but are obviously important enough to the guests that they receive the answers... without the attitude and the smirk.

Overall, it's a pleasant enough stay and I found it comfortable enought to want to come back. For Hyatt Gold members, this hotel is much better than the Grand Hyatt.

The Andaz treated me like a VIP the moment I walked in the door. The room had a view of the New York Public library. The hotel and my room were clean and chic. The extra large king bed was extra comfortable. The roll away, I requested, was delivered as promised. All the (newest) non alcoholic drinks and snacks in the refrigerator were free. The welcome by the staff was outstanding. What a wonderful New York City experience.
