“Wonderful hotel in great location”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 15, 2013

Great hotel, great service and great location! The staff was extremely professional and attentive from the moment we walked in. The room was beautiful, with a great view of 5th Avenue and the NY Public Library. We highly recommend this hotel and will be back asap.

Room Tip: Ask for a view of 5th Avenue

We stayed here primarily because British airways had a good deal on it and it ranks highly on TA.

It's located right in the middle of the tourist area and is ideal if you want to walk places although there is the subway close by as well. It's ten minutes walk to Times Square, half an hour or so to Central Park and just five minutes to the Empire State or grand central station.

Check in was a breeze and our request for a quiet room was met superbly. We heard the occasional siren but that was about it and considering its location near to Times Square, grand central and the Empire State Building we were really surprised how well we slept. The room itself was nicely furnished, well maintained and clean with a boutique feel to it. Nice extras like large screen tv, touch sensitive lighting controls and electric blinds. There is a mini bar which is complimentary for water and soft drinks and there are good quality toiletries in the bathroom. Wi-if was free as well which is a welcome extra. The only downsides were the room seemed dark even with all the lights on and there's no coffee making facilities in room although you can request a kettle to borrow. Also, as seems to be the rage at the moment, the shower room has no doors so if you're travelling with a friend make it a very good friend.

We ate in the restaurant twice and this we enjoyed. The food was reasonably well priced and there was a decent choice. The service was fantastic, very friendly, professional and prompt. Didn't have breakfast so can't comment. It's worth noting as well that there is complimentary coffee served in the foyer in the morning and wine at night which we thought was a nice touch.

Most of the staff were great. Requests were dealt with quickly and courteously and with a smile. There was also a little free gift when we left.

We would not hesitate to recommend it but remember to ask for a quiet room.

Many of the hotels in NYC are like bus stations, the Andaz offers loft style rooms, tastefully done and with a modern twist. Location is excellent opposer the NY library. On 5th Avenue and close to Maddison on 41st Street. The Shop for breakfast is excellent with many new breakfast ideas. The lemongrass Soufflé pancakes with a side of Bratwurst sausages. Good coffee and fresh orange juice mmmm open for lunch and dinner. The Cellar bar is a great meeting place and communal but also like a speakeasy as it well hidden but very spacious when you enter behind a door with no sign,,,,rooms are with a small lounge and 2 huge sized televisions, mini bar and local calls free plus free fast wifi. Well worth booking.

Room Tip: Ask for a view towards 5th Avenue and the library

My wife and I stayed in the Andaz for one night over Columbus Day and had a fantastic experience. My wife had emailed the hotel ahead of time alerting them to the fact that we were celebrating my birthday and requesting an upgrade, if possible. We got a personalized response from Israel indicating that they will do the best they can. Indeed, on check-in, Israel greeted us the second we walked into the lobby and was able to confirm that they had upgraded us to a balcony suite. Note that I have no status with Hyatt (but am a gold passport member).

The upgraded room was large by Manhattan standards. The incredible customer service didn't end there -- later that night, we were treated to a complimentary bottle of champagne to help celebrate.

Overall we had a wonderful experience -- if you want to be treated like royalty, stay here.

Andaz on 5th Avenue was a great, central base for touring New York. Added bonus was that it was a 100 yards from Bryant Park where we stopped off most afternoons to enjoy a glass of wine in the Sunshine. The check-in process was no nonsense and stress free. No waiting around, prompt attention from the staff in reception who escorted us to our room and explained the layout and facilities. The room was a loft room was a great big bathroom. comfortable beds, spotless room and water, soft drinks and crisps all 'on the house' during the stay.
Free wine is on offer in the reception area each evening for a pre-dinner drink too. We would definitely return to this hotel

Room Tip: We had a room on the 9th floor on the south side which was very quiet, no sound from the street what...

I've heard many times that Andaz is one of the world best hotels. but, I should confess that I had thought it's a bit expensive to me.
Luckily getting two free nights, I decided to stay in Andaz 5th, NY, for two nights. Though I am a little bit worried that my stay was not paid stay, but it was totally my misunderstanding. Andaz treated me as a a king of NY. They were so perfect, impossible to be better.
Needless to say, hotel quality itself and its location was so great to enjoy NY city.
Now. I become a big fan of Andaz, I will definitely stay in Andaz 5th when my next travel to NY.

Please never forget to have lemon poppy seed pancakes. They are overwhelmingly yummy.

This boutique hotel was a really pleasant surprise. Had not heard of this hyatt brand but turns out it was the people who made it great. From the moment we got to hotel till departure(4 days) the staff was very attentive to our needs. Front desk set up and lobby is unconventional but it works. At one point I asked where I could find a cappuccino cause the coffee bar was closed so they reopened it and made me one at no charge. Had the suite with great beds, loft style design and awesome shower, not crazy about washroom doors but no biggie considering everything else. Oh yea free water soft drinks and snacks in room, go figure. Close to time square and easy walking to most places. Will be first choice next time.
